The first track of “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” soundtrack is about to be released. On August 26th “Atlas” by Coldplay will be available for purchase. This is the first time that the multi-Grammy winning band has recorded an original song for a major motion picture. This is in preparation for Catching Fire‘s November 22nd theatrical release. The first partnership between Republic Records and Lionsgate yielded the Grammy-winning, chart-dominating “The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 And Beyond” featuring Taylor Swift, Maroon 5, and others. After getting it home and trying it in my morning coffee (delish!) I started to think about other ways to enjoy that yummy, melty ice cream flavor.. And then I thought – what goes better with ice cream than just about anything else? Cake, of course. And the whipped cream from the bottle gave me an idea. I love to make cupcakes with a little surprise in the middle, and wouldn’t the surprise of an ice cream cookie sundae when you took a bite be a great one?

Thank you to The Beatrix Girls for sending Lark to live with us. All words and opinions are my own.

Earlier this week I mentioned that I had the opportunity to attend Sweet Suite while in Chicago. There were tons of great toy companies, some well-known that have been around for years and others that are just being introduced for the first time. One of the new companies – a company that I expect you’ll be hearing a lot of in the next few months – was the PopStar Club.

The Beatrix Girls Dolls - Lark & Brayden

PopStar Club is the maker of a new line of collectible 12″ pop star dolls called The Beatrix Girls. The girls – Lark, Ainsley, Brayden, and Chantal – are all members of the same band. What sets them apart from other similarly-themed dolls is that these gals create actual music that your kids can download. Each band member also has a full background story. The number of people that go hungry in the United States every day is sad and, for many, startling. Considering that the US has always been looked at as the land of plenty, you just don’t expect it. If you read a lot of blogs you may have heard a common locale mentioned recently: Chicago. Bloggers from all over the world (literally, from as far away as Australia!) recently descended on the Windy City for a chance to meet up, have some fun, and learn a few things. I’ve always wanted to attend and this year I was lucky enough to join them.

I was also lucky enough to attend what has been labeled the Biggest Night of Play and shortly you’ll see why. Sweet Suite is hosted by http://www.TheBigToyBook.com, Joey Fortman from RealMomMedia.com & Charlene DeLoach from CharleneChronicles.com and is an opportunity for bloggers to see some of the hottest toys available, as well as some that are on the horizon. And not only did we get to see the toys, we were able to play with the toys, too. Yup, that’s right – hundreds of adults walking around, building with blocks, playing video games, and squeeing like kids on Christmas morning (I may have done a bit of squeeing, myself).
