Decorating for any holiday can get a little overwhelming.  Do you buy things after the season when they’re on sale, then store and hope you remember where you put them next year?  Do you try and make everything leading up to the holiday?  And what about last-minute parties or guests for whom you want your house to look spooky?

Easy Last-Minute Halloween Decoration Ideas

There are a few last-minute Halloween decoration ideas that will help you pull everything together easily and stress-free.  Many of them are inexpensive, too, like my DIY Halloween candy dish. Continue reading »

This DIY Halloween Candy Dish post is sponsored by the Sverve #smokehousebbq campaign. All thoughts and words are my own.

Over the weekend I dug out my Halloween decorations and started to transform our house.  I actually couldn’t believe we’re already only three weeks away from Halloween!  I feel a little behind the ball on getting everything all set up.

DIY Halloween Candy Dish - Made from a terracotta pot! Easy craft for under $5 #SmokehouseBBQ

As I started to lay things out – the table runner, silly spider, ghost in a jar, pumpkins, you name it – I realized I was a little short on candy dishes.  Then I remembered the candy dish that I had made when I was younger as a gift for my Gram.  It was an easy project using terracotta pots, which I knew I had in my craft closet. There are a few new DVDs for kids that are just releasing or releasing soon that I wanted to let you know about. Some of these star our favorite current characters and would be well-received by any of the kiddos in your life, I’m sure!

My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic

DVDs for Kids: My Little Pony Friendship is Magic - Spooktacular Pony Tales

Bubbles is all about My Little Ponies right now, and so this is one I hope to order for her.  In My Little Pony – Friendship is Magic: Spooktacular Pony Tales you’ll join Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Applejack, Pinkie Pie (and, of course, Spike!) in some of the spookiest adventures Equestria has ever seen.  The DVD contains six episodes and has a runtime of 132 minutes and is available today! Over the past few weeks we’ve been trying to get Bubbles to tell us what she wants to be for Halloween.  Every time we’d talk about it, though, she would declare that she just wanted to be “a kid” for Halloween.  I showed her costumes of all her favorite characters: Rapunzel, Cinderella, Tinker Bell, even an Angry Bird’s costume for girls.

No go.

Finally Bubbles decided she wanted to be a puppy (not sure if that was the influence of the Bubble Guppies Halloween episode, or not, but hey).  Except I hadn’t seen a single puppy in all our trips to various costume departments.  Looking online didn’t provide a lot of help; really, the only site I’d have enough turn around time to order from was Amazon, and there was a surprising lack of decent puppy costumes there, also.

Thank you to JOLLY TIME for providing products to help me create a monster munch recipe.

I love making munch mix recipes for a couple of reasons.  One, they’re just so darn tasty.  Whomever the first person it was that came up with tossing this combination of ingredients together is a smart cookie.

But I also like making them because they’re quick and easy.  I know you all probably get some last minute “Oh, hey Mom, by the way…” requests for snacks for school or a bake sale or something similar.  I used to spring that on my own Mom once in awhile.  So a go-to snack recipe that can be changed up based on the season, holiday, or even just what mix-ins you have on hand can be a big help.
