This CASHFLOW game post is sponsored by Rich Dad. All words and opinions are my own.

I think one of the most important things we can teach our kids before they leave our homes is money management and how to be financially responsible.  When I left home to attend college I ran into a number of kids who clearly didn’t have these lessons growing up and it was a little painful watching some of the decisions they made.  (College tip: running up a pizza tab on your credit cards is probably not smart.)

The CASHFLOW game by Rich Dad Poor Dad. A fun way to introduce the concept of money management and fiscal responsibility to your kiddos plus learn a little about investing for yourself, too. Add #CASHFLOW to your next family game night.

I had lessons both at home and in school.  In the fifth grade we were given “checkbooks” that we managed for the entire year, had ways to earn “income” and were given the opportunity to write out “checks” for prizes and other items.  It made learning the concept a lot of fun, which is really helpful for a topic like money. I’m about to put two names together that I really never thought I would.  Those two names are “Disney” and “Lewis Black”.  And I’m seriously in love.

Who else but Lewis Black could be Anger in the new Disney*Pixar film Inside Out, coming June 19, 2015

I have been a Lewis Black fan for a long time.  A few years ago my husband and I even had the opportunity to see him perform live here in Louisville.  Pretty sure I own all his albums, too. Continue reading »

Somewhere around junior high my family started a new tradition of the entire family going to a movie on Thanksgiving night.  There were 10 or so of us that went and it was always a fun way to end the day’s festivities.  There were a surprising number of other people there, and I found out that for many it wasn’t just a Thanksgiving tradition, it was a Christmas one, too.

Into the Woods opens Christmas Day 2014

I’m trying to remember if we saw any movies on Christmas Day.  If we did, none really stick out to me.  But this year, I think that’s going to be different.  Because this year Into the Woods opens on December 25th and I think it’s going to be awesome. Continue reading »

Do you know what happens tomorrow?  The stellar hit Guardians of the Galaxy will be released to the cosmos on DVD and Blu-ray.  I’m especially excited because it’s the only Marvel movie we didn’t get a chance to see at the theater this year and I’m itching to be a little more in the know when it comes to Groot, the Star-Lord, and the rest of the group.

You too can #OwnTheGalaxy with Guardians of the Galaxy toys, soundtrack and DVD!

We may not have caught the movie yet but each of us already has a favorite part or line thanks to all of the trailers and teaser clips that have been shown.  Like the infamous Dancing Groot.  Watching that led me to the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack, also known as “Awesome Mix Vol. 1” (yep, a mixed tape.  Oh the awesome).  Listen to a few of those songs and you’ll have no problem understanding why Groot needed to get his groove on. I received a copy of the Idina Menzel holiday album “Holiday Wishes” as a member of One2One Network in order to facilitate my review. All words and opinions are my own.

I’ve been listening to Christmas music for awhile now.  I have a pretty solid collection and each year it seems to grow.  This year I’ve already added one new album to my playlist and it’s one I think you’ll love.

New Idina Menzel holiday album "Holiday Wishes"

Now, you’ve probably heard the name Idina Menzel at this point.  She was the voice of Elsa in this little Disney movie Frozen?  And by “little” I mean a “global box-office smash”.  Did you know, though, that she was already a Tony award-winning actress and singer before that? Continue reading »
