It’s always exciting when My Little Pony DVDs arrive at our house from our friends at Shout! Factory.  I try to make each new release special by making a yummy treat or fun craft that matches the theme.  So when I saw Pinkie Pie holding a bowl of popcorn on the back of the MLP Equestria Girls: Magical Movie Night DVD, the idea for Pinkie Pie’s Party Popcorn immediately came to mind.

Pinkie Pie's Party Popcorn is perfect for a My Little Pony Equestria Girls Magical Movie Night!

Bubbles is very excited that her new cousin loves My Little Pony, too.  We plan to invite her down soon for a Magical Movie Night of our own.  We’ll definitely be serving up more of Pinkie Pie’s Party Popcorn – our first batch disappeared, well, like magic! Continue reading »

This shop and my suggestions for preschool toys to donate has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BIGDeal #CollectiveBias

I’ve always felt it was important to teach Bubbles to have a kind and giving heart.  Small acts of kindness go a long way in this world, and I want her to think of others and not just herself.  I also want her to know the joy of brightening someone else’s day.

If you need ideas for preschool toys to donate, here are 5 great options!

As a family, we shop every year for gifts that we’ll donate to the various toy drives and angel trees in town.  Friends and family often comment that they would like to do something similar, but had two concerns in common.  One was the cost of giving during an already expensive time of year (and during an already tough economic climate) and the other was a lack of knowledge in what kids might like. I like finding ways to add a surprise element of fun to an otherwise “everyday” kind of event.  Bubbles is always and forever wanting to play with and in the boxes that get delivered to the house, so I thought it would be fun to turn one of them into an actual cardboard box car that she could play with.  And since we’d received a few kids DVDs in the mail over the previous few weeks I decided to unveil the “car” as part of a drive in movie experience.

Make an easy DIY Cardboard Box Car for a fun drive in movie experience for your kids

Bubbles has pretended that cardboard boxes are all manner of vehicles in the past.  But I figured that with a few inexpensive supplies I could make a cardboard box car that would last a little longer and help enhance her imaginative play.  The best part was that it only took about fifteen minutes to make and most of that time is taping the “body” of the car.
