For those that read Views From the ‘Ville regularly, you know how much I love a theme. All of the Avengers lend themselves well to a special night of fun so I thought it would be fun to share some inexpensive ideas to have an Iron Man 3 Family Fun Night. If your family isn’t already chomping at the bit to hit the theater this weekend, these should help get your family pumped up. Continue reading »
Our family loves games of all sorts. Video games, card games, board games, active games. If you can play it, we probably will give it a try. So we were pretty excited when we recently had the chance to have a family game night with games from Hasbro. They sent some of their new toys based on Angry Birds, an app that the entire family at one point or another has spent hours flinging birds at gravity-defying structures. The extra-cool part is that these Angry Bird toys are based on the Star Wars franchise, something we all love.
Bubbles loves anything that comes in the mail but was especially intrigued by a box sealed with a cool Angry Birds Star Wars sticker. “What is it Mama? What is it Mama?” she kept asking as we opened it. Before I even had all the flaps open she stuck her little hand in and pulled out what may be the coolest foam ball I’ve ever seen. It was a Chewbacca Angry Birds™ Star Wars™ Foam Flyer and seriously – so cute. She claimed it for herself and ran off to “show Daddy, show Daddy!”
Thanks to Hershey’s for providing us with a basket of treats.
Create Easter Memories to Last a Lifetime
Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. It’s in the spring so normally we had a bit of sunny, warm weather (though in northern Maine snow on Easter wasn’t out of the question) so when my brothers and I would wake up we’d find the sun shining through our windows and spotlighting dozens of eggs and other little treats scattered across the floor. An empty basket was always by the foot of each of our beds and we’d follow the trail down the hall, down the stairs, and all through the house, collecting jelly beans and chocolates as we went.
It’s a tradition that I’ve been excited to share with my own family. Last year was the first year that Bubbles was mobile and interested enough to toddle around and collect a few eggs in her basket. She was delighted with the entire process so I think this year will be twice as fun for her. She’s already talking about the Easter bunny, baskets, eggs, and chocolate. It was very exciting for her to already have receive one basket. As it is she loves when the delivery folks knock on our door; she has such fun “helping Mom” open boxes. So when we recently opened a box that contained an Easter basket full of yummy Hershey’s treats she was extra excited. Continue reading »
Reverse Charades Board Game
If you’re looking for some family fun this holiday season you’ve found it! A new game called Reverse Charades by RETROPlay will have the entire family laughing and on the edge of their seats. There aren’t many games that everyone from your tweens to their grandparents can play at the same time and have so much fun. And if your kids are elementary school-aged they don’t have to miss out; Reverse Charades Junior is perfect for them.
Reverse Charades is a new take on an old classic. Instead of one person acting out the charades clues for their team to guess – the entire team acts out the clues for one person to guess. This keeps the game play moving quickly and also engages more people at one time. No more waiting for a bunch of people to go each time before you get another turn acting. Both Reverse Charades and Reverse Charades Junior come with 720 words so your group can play for hours without missing a beat. Continue reading »
