Growing up in Maine we didn’t have any local zoos.  We really didn’t even have any non-local zoos.  I had visited one in Canada and one in Florida while on vacation, but that was it.  So when I moved to Kentucky I was excited to find that it was just a quick trip to the Louisville Zoo.

Riding the carousel horses at the Louisville Zoo

Since then we have been to the Louisville Zoo on a number of occasions.  We have a list of “must do” items, like a ride on the carousel which only costs $2 to ride (it’s $3 for unlimited rides all day).  We then fill in the rest of the time with whatever animals are out that day, any shows that might be taking place, or new displays that are being rotated through like the LEGO creations we recently saw. This shop and my Angry Birds party ideas have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser, Walmart Family Mobile. Opinions are mine, but the angry fun can be yours! #AngryForSavings #CollectiveBias

We’re kind of big fans of Angry Birds around here.  When she was around three, Bubbles was sitting with Daddy while he was playing Angry Birds on his phone.  She reached down and after a few minutes was successfully passing levels like a pro.

How to Host the Ultimate Angry Birds Party for the Whole Family!

Because Bubbles starts school next week we’ve been trying to pack as much extra fun into the last week or two of summer.  I had wanted to take her to see the Angry Birds movie in theaters but we didn’t get the chance.  So I decided we’d do an at-home Angry Birds movie party instead! Thank you to My Body Village for sponsoring this post on healthy habits. Making it fun keeps the kiddos engaged!

It’s hard to tell in some parts of the country – you know, the ones that just got an extra foot or so of snow in the last week or two – but spring is starting to bloom around us.  A lot of people use the onset of warmer weather as a way to renew the resolutions that have waned since the New Year.

Weekly healthy habits challenges from My Body Village - This week's challenge is to play a board game!

If your family could use a little nudge to get on track with their own healthy habits, My Body Village has some fun weekly challenges to help you out.  Each week focuses on a different organ and a way to help make it healthy or exercise it.  For example, this week’s challenge is from Raymond Brain, and he wants you to play a family board game. While my parents and brother were visiting over Thanksgiving and the week after, I planned a trip for us to the Louisville Slugger Museum here in town.  My entire family are huge baseball fans (I love baseball, myself) but my brother Jeff, especially, lives and breathes the game.  As this was his first time in Louisville, I knew it would be a fun surprise for him if we could go.

The bat in front of the Louisville Slugger Museum is an exact-scale replica of the model R43, 34" wood bat, designed to specifications requested by Babe Ruth in the early 1920s. It stands 120' tall, making it the World’s Biggest Bat.

I had never been to the Slugger Museum either and, oddly enough, even though my husband has lived here pretty much his entire life, he also had never been.  I knew Bubbles might be a little young to appreciate it all, but she’s always happy to go anywhere, especially with her Uncle Jeff. I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This Disney FROZEN shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser.

Bubbles and I had the opportunity back in November to go and watch Disney FROZEN.  It was her second theater movie, and the first one she sat all the way through.  She was mesmerized from the start and over the last few weeks as she breaks into the song with “Let It Go” and asks for “warm hugs like Olaf” she’s proven that the movie made an impact on her.

When I was planning a special mother-daughter day for us recently, I decided it would be fun to do a FROZEN-themed day.  It certainly was apropos as the country was literally frozen in many places, including us here in Kentucky.  We’d been “enjoying” weather in the teens and it was about to dip below zero on the thermometer.  I wanted us to be able to get out and have some fun before it was too cold to be outside.
