I received a Wantable subscription box in order to facilitate my review.  All thoughts and words are my own.

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry on a day-to-day basis.  When you’re chasing after a toddler it’s a good idea not to have anything that dangles.  Being strangled with a necklace or having your earlobes torn open by a snagged earring isn’t really my idea of a good time.  But though I don’t get to wear it as much as I’d like, I still love a good accessory.

Recently I heard about Wantable.com, a subscription box focused around fashion and beauty.  They actually have two “paths” you can choose from: makeup (full size products) or limited edition accessories.  While I have a serious love for nail polish, I thought it would be fun to go the jewelry route and see just what showed up on my doorstep.

Thank you to the sponsor for providing a pair of Dansko Elise Sneakers to kick up my fall fashion! All words and opinions are my own.

I’ve always been a bit of a cliche when it comes to shoes in that I love them.  I have spent many an hour wandering around shoe stores, browsing online, and looking through catalogs (how many companies even send out a catalog any more?).  I’m not sure if this is due in part to the fact that at just over 5’0, I’ve always looked to shoes to give me some height so as to not disappear in a crowd (and field a few less “how’s the weather down there?” jokes).

A small problem with my shoe habits, however, is that I tend to fall on the side of “ohmygoshadorable” rather than “wowthesearecomfy”.  I’m not going to lie – in my life I’ve owned more than a few pairs of shoes that never got more than a couple of wears from them because of how badly they hurt my feet.  You can usually tell with a shoe if all it needs is some breaking in, or if nothing on this planet will make them tolerable.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Kohl’s back to school fashion for kids.  I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you all that Kohl’s might be a good choice for back to school fashion for kids.  They’re hard to beat when it comes to getting a great deal.  They already have great sale prices, but when you pair them with the sales passes that offer you 15-20% off your purchase (sometimes more, especially for those with a Kohl’s Card), plus Kohl’s Cash (usually $10 off your purchase), plus the occasional coupons, you’re talking about serious savings.

Because I know that Kohl’s is one of the best places to get the biggest bang for my buck, we recently took Austin shopping there for a few back to school items.  By the time you get to his age – he’s a senior in high school this year – it’s not really about the backpack or even a “first day” outfit.  It’s more about finding clothes that you’re going to want to wear multiple times throughout the school years. If you follow me on Twitter, Instagram or Foursquare you may have saw posts or check-ins that reference Kohl’s.  That’s because I have been in love with Kohl’s basically since the first time I set foot inside one of their stores.  They have great brands (like Carters, Vera Wang, Food Network, and more), a wide selection of items, and amazing deals and sales.

A couple of years ago one of my biggest shopping dreams became a reality: Kohl’s built a brand new store just about 5 minutes away.  It’s a LEED-certified store which is something of which they are very proud.  Kohl’s is very devoted to being a good community partner and this is just one way in which they do it.  Another way is through their Kohl’s Cares program, which we love.  They regularly rotate in a new themed line of merchandise for $5 per item.  We’ve bought a lot of kids books, stuffed animals, and cookbooks that were part of the program.

Are you looking for summer kids’ clothes?

Summer started early here this year; we were feeling the heat way back in May.  Which means we’ve been wearing our flip flops, sundresses, shorts and tank tops for months now.  As an adult, you can just keep tossing things in the laundry and wear them no matter how long summer lasts, but when you’re a toddler that is growing like a weed you’re going to run out of clothes before you run out of heat.

That was the situation we’ve recently run into; Bubbles summer clothes were starting to get a little small.  If we only had a couple of weeks left before cooler fall temps, she probably could make it with what she has.  But since it’s not quite August yet and we’re likely to still see 90s and maybe even triple digits through September, we needed to round out her summer wardrobe with a few extra pieces.

I recently had heard of CookiesKids.com and after checking them out I was really impressed.  They have a great variety of name-brand clothing at really awesome prices.  But what exactly is Cookies Kids? Continue reading »
