I received a Wantable subscription box in order to facilitate my review.  All thoughts and words are my own.

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry on a day-to-day basis.  When you’re chasing after a toddler it’s a good idea not to have anything that dangles.  Being strangled with a necklace or having your earlobes torn open by a snagged earring isn’t really my idea of a good time.  But though I don’t get to wear it as much as I’d like, I still love a good accessory.

Recently I heard about Wantable.com, a subscription box focused around fashion and beauty.  They actually have two “paths” you can choose from: makeup (full size products) or limited edition accessories.  While I have a serious love for nail polish, I thought it would be fun to go the jewelry route and see just what showed up on my doorstep.

The order process is kind of unlike the other subscription boxes I’ve tried.  You actually get to give them some of your personal preferences so they can better customize the box for you.  Share your style, what you love, what you hate.  For example, if you love silver, but can’t stand gold (like me) you can tell them that.  If you’re more preppy than grunge, you can tell them that, too.  Need a few more necklaces but no room for more earrings?  That’s on there, too.

Alanis Earrings in the Wantable Accessories Subscription Box

They say you’ll receive 3-4 boutique pieces in your accessories box, but when mine arrived, there were actually five items: two pairs of earrings, a necklace, a bracelet, and a pair of sunglasses.  The Alanis earrings (RV $20) were the first item I was drawn to, as they were dangles and there was no gold in sight.  Bubbles quickly snagged the Roxberry bracelet (RV $20) for herself, because she needed something to wear, too.

Marnie Necklace from the Wantable Accessory Subscription Box

I wasn’t that wowed by the other items in my box.  They were nice items and seemed to be of good quality, they just really weren’t my style.  I”m not a pearls person, so the Marnie necklace (RV $25) isn’t something I’d wear.  The Bethany sunglasses (RV $15) were red, and in a “bleed blue” UK household, red isn’t something we wear a lot of.  The last pair of earrings – the Ida earrings (RV $20) just aren’t something I’d wear.  Overall, the retail value of my box, though, was $100.

Here’s where the best thing about the Wantable box comes into play, though.  Like some of it, don’t like other pieces?  Don’t like any of the pieces at all?  You can return them – for free!  And they’ll credit you money back, up to $40 which is the price of a single-purchase box (they’re $36 per box if you subscribe for multiple months at once).  No questions asked, either.  Just go into your account, select the pieces you want to send back, and they’ll email you a prepaid shipping label.  Pretty sweet.

These would make an awesome gift for your favorite fashionista friend.  I think they’d also be neat as a bridesmaids present.  And of course there’s Mother’s Day, Christmas, birthdays – lots of reasons to give a one month gift subscription.  And of course if you love accessories, you’re going to want the fun of seeing what’s inside one, yourself.  I know I’m curious about what will be in the September box!

  1. I like Wantable, because they have great quality items. However, their items are really hit and miss to your tastes, as are their boxes.

    • I agree on both points, Greta. In my last box, the chandelier earrings are really the only thing I’d probably wear. My daughter stole my bracelet, though. I have a second box coming soon to give it another try and see if there are more things closer to my preferences.

  2. […] week or two ago I shared with you my love of subscription boxes.  I might go so far as to say that subscription boxes are one of my favorite retail introductions […]
