TCBY Frozen Yogurt is now available in your grocer’s freezer!

School went back in session here this past week – can you believe it?  The freedom days of summer went by so quickly!  A2 was kind of ready to start back; I think we all remember how summer was exciting for the first few weeks school was out, but by the end, boredom set in somewhat.

To celebrate the end of summer I decided it would be nice to have a sweet treat the night before school officially started.  Both A1 and A2 are following fitness routines and eating “clean” right now, so I had to think a little bit about what we could have that wouldn’t be too over-the-top for either of them.  What I really wanted to make was the Chocolate Trifle that my Mom made many times when I was growing up; so very tasty, but not even close to the definition of the word “light”.  Her trifle consisted of layers of chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, whipped topping, crushed toffee bars, finished with chocolate sauce drizzled over the top.  Plus I knew if I made it we’d end up with a lot left over.

Then I started thinking about how to create individual portions and what other ingredients we might be able to use to lighten dessert up.  I recalled that the last time I was at Walmart TCBY Frozen Yogurt had moved in; froyo could definitely work!  With less fat and calories than traditional ice cream it was definitely a lighter option and with the number of flavors available it could be layered with a number of different ingredients.

Are you looking for summer kids’ clothes?

Summer started early here this year; we were feeling the heat way back in May.  Which means we’ve been wearing our flip flops, sundresses, shorts and tank tops for months now.  As an adult, you can just keep tossing things in the laundry and wear them no matter how long summer lasts, but when you’re a toddler that is growing like a weed you’re going to run out of clothes before you run out of heat.

That was the situation we’ve recently run into; Bubbles summer clothes were starting to get a little small.  If we only had a couple of weeks left before cooler fall temps, she probably could make it with what she has.  But since it’s not quite August yet and we’re likely to still see 90s and maybe even triple digits through September, we needed to round out her summer wardrobe with a few extra pieces.

I recently had heard of CookiesKids.com and after checking them out I was really impressed.  They have a great variety of name-brand clothing at really awesome prices.  But what exactly is Cookies Kids? Continue reading »

It has been exceedingly hot here for the last few weeks.  So hot that I keep forgetting that summer has just technically started; for as long as it’s been hot, it feels like fall should be right around the corner.  Today was a little cooler – only mid-80s and not so much humidity – but still relatively hot.

It's hot outside! Thermometer reads 85.

We had spent the morning doing some housework and then running errands which can zap your energy on a regular day.  By the time we returned home, Bubbles had fallen asleep and everyone was ready for some lunch and a break.  I wanted to do something a little special and thought that something cold and creamy would be perfect.  One of hubby’s favorite fast food restaurants is Wendy’s and they have those tasty Frosties!  They sounded like the perfect way to cool down on a Saturday afternoon.

Wendy's Frosty Key Chain - Free Mini Frosty!

Did you know Wendy’s has these cute Frosty key chains?  You pay a dollar for them and then every time you make a purchase and show it at Wendy’s you get a free mini Frosty!  I think it’s an excellent deal. Continue reading »

We’ve slowly been working on updates, home improvement projects, and redecorating ever since we moved into our new house a couple of months ago.  One of the things we’ve been planning to get around to was the lighting for the living room.  The living room was equipped with a ceiling fan when we moved in, but it wasn’t really our taste.  In addition, not all of the bulbs worked, and the ones that did were blindingly bright.

I realize we could have just changed out the bulb and made it work for awhile, but – well, it seemed easier to just turn the light portion off at the time.  This meant supplementing with a couple of floor lamps, which also wasn’t ideal.  Last week, though, a challenge was extended to replace my current incandescent lighting sources with #GELighting that is energy-efficient.  I thought it would also be a good opportunity for us to get serious and update at least a couple of light fixtures, too, so my husband and I packed Bubbles up in the car, and we headed to Walmart to see what we could find. What would you do if tomorrow you woke up and didn’t remember your spouse, didn’t even recall that you had one?

The Vow - Having Dinner At Their Favorite Spot

Last night hubby and I had a dinner and a movie date night.  I had been wanting to see The Vow, and though my husband thought it was going to be “kind of a chick flick”, he agreed to watch it with me.  It’s a fairly new release, so I was concerned that it might not be available many places.
