I love themed activities. Which is probably no secret if you’ve read my blog for any length of time. DIY projects and recipes centered around holidays, movies, and more is my jam.

Jurassic Dirt Pudding Cups - this dino-themed dirt pudding cups recipe is perfect for a dinosaur birthday party or just a fun treat for the kiddos!

So with this being Bubbles’ second full week of summer vacation, I thought it was time for a theme week, and the easy choice was dinosaurs. She is minorly obsessed with all things dino, and with the new Jurassic World movie in theaters, the timing was perfect. Continue reading »

When I shared Gram’s recipe for Corn Fritters with you the other day, I mentioned how this time of year is when I seem to miss her most.  Spending time in the kitchen with her was something I always loved.

These Old Fashioned Soft Molasses Drop Cookies are topped with a maple glaze and a bit of walnut.

I’m fortunate to have many of my favorite recipes that were hers on recipe cards in her own handwriting.  For many years she always tucked one or two into my stocking at Christmas so I could add them to my collection. Continue reading »

This shop and my Butterfinger Brownie Trifle recipe have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone – but the deliciousness can easily be yours! #mixinmoments #CollectiveBias

Trifle recipes are some of my favorite.  Most parties, BBQs or potlucks we attended had one, and often is was made by my Mom.  Hers were mostly chocolate, though sometimes she experimented with new flavor combinations.

My Butterfinger Brownie Trifle recipe comes together in just 3 easy steps!

I’m not sure why I don’t make them as often as my Mom did.   For the minimal amount of prep and cooking time, they have a big visual payoff.  All those different layers look – and taste! – so yummy.  Continue reading »

Baking cookies and other treats has long been one of my favorite holiday activities.  My Gram always turned it into a real occasion, filling her kitchen with dozens of different bars, squares, cookies, drops, brownies, and fudge.  She would put a few of each sweet on a platter or in a box and deliver them to friends and family all over town.

Easy Chocolate Chip Cookie Cups recipe to share during the holidays

While my Gram personally delivered most of her treats, some of them were done as an anonymous drop off.  It’s a fun and easy way to add a little joy to someone’s day and it’s also a great way to teach kids the spirit of giving. Continue reading »

Over the weekend I spent some time working on more of my menu for game day.  When I’m trying something new, or even just a variation on something I make often, I like to give them a trial run to ensure they work out the way I think they will.  No one around here minds needing to eat some of the same things twice, I promise.

Game Day Recipes: Butterfingers Peanut Butter Cups Minis trifle recipe & milkshake shooters with DiGiorno Cheese Stuffed Crust 5 Cheese Pizza #GameTimeMVP

I’ve been kind of loving the ButterFinger Peanut Butter Cups since they came out, and when I saw the new ButterFinger Peanut Butter Cups Minis at Walmart not that long ago an idea started to form.  My Mom makes an amazing chocolate trifle with crushed up candy bars.  I thought it would be perfect to replace the candy bars with chopped up ButterFinger Peanut Butter Cups Minis so I picked up a bag to bake with (as well as a smaller bag to snack on).
