My friend Emily and I always seemed to find something fun to get into during the summers.  Bonfires, taking road trips to Old Orchard Beach, watching Grease while eating take out from the local diner.  Even during our college years summers were our time for catching up and having adventures.

BFF Gift Idea: Share summer fun with your BFF with a Summer Must Haves Beach Tote

Summer stretches out longer here in Kentucky but back in Maine there’s not too much longer before kids go back to school and summer winds down.  Both Emily and her husband work in the school system so their slightly more carefree days are about to end, too.  Before that happens, though, I’m sending her a BFF gift – a beach tote full of summer must-haves to remind her of all our fun times! As I mentioned the other day, Austin has officially left for basic training.  The day he left was bittersweet: we’re proud of his accomplishments and the journey he’s undertaking, but we’re also going to miss him.  It’s the first time I remember him being away from home for more than a few days so it will be a big adjustment all around.

Saying bye-bye to Austin at the airport as he leaves for basic training

As hard as it is for “the grownups” I know it’s going to be even harder for Bubbles.  She adores Austin and loves spending time with her big bro.  It’s hard to explain to a 4-year-old why it is that we can’t just call him up and have him come over for dinner. Continue reading »

This is a partnered post with myself, Champions for Kids and The Motherhood to introduce the Snacks for Students program. All words and opinions are my own.

Over the years I’ve worked with Champions for Kids a few different times.  The concept behind Champions for Kids is really simple: it’s an organization that makes it easy for you to give to kids in your own community.  There are a number of different programs they host throughout the year from food to books to toiletries and more.

Champions for Kids: making it easy to give to kids in your own local communities #SnacksForStudents

The ‘your own community’ part is one of the biggest reasons I’ve enjoyed partnering with Champions for Kids the last few years.  There are, of course, plenty of people that need our help worldwide, but it’s important to not overlook those in our own backyard, either.  And now for the first time, nearly everyone in the country can get involved in providing for their communities. Have you been scouting for after-Christmas sales? I popped into Walmart yesterday for a few things and noticed a bunch of pretty Coty fragrances still available. If you didn’t receive your favorite scent for Christmas, then there’s still time to pick them up.

Thank you to Lunchbox for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.

Choosing gifts for little kids can be harder than you might think.  I mean, yes, there are plenty of toys around.  And there are no shortage of commercials causing kiddos to shout “I want that!”.  But how much is hype and how much is true interest?

Checking out the Barbie Bubble-tastic Mermaid at the Walmart Toyland Chosen By Kids event
This Barbie Bubble-tastic Mermaid post is brought to you by Sverve. All words and opinions are my own.

A couple of weeks ago I shared that I was heading to the Walmart Toyland event at our local Walmart.  They had some of this year’s hot toys available for hands-on play.  Bubbles was excited to try her hand at a few different products, and as a Mom I appreciated being able to judge her reaction and see which ones she gravitated towards.
