I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Kohl’s back to school fashion for kids. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you all that Kohl’s might be a good choice for back to school fashion for kids. They’re hard to beat when it comes to getting a great deal. They already have great sale prices, but when you pair them with the sales passes that offer you 15-20% off your purchase (sometimes more, especially for those with a Kohl’s Card), plus Kohl’s Cash (usually $10 off your purchase), plus the occasional coupons, you’re talking about serious savings.

Because I know that Kohl’s is one of the best places to get the biggest bang for my buck, we recently took Austin shopping there for a few back to school items. By the time you get to his age – he’s a senior in high school this year – it’s not really about the backpack or even a “first day” outfit. If you follow me on Twitter, Instagram or Foursquare you may have saw posts or check-ins that reference Kohl’s. That’s because I have been in love with Kohl’s basically since the first time I set foot inside one of their stores. They have great brands (like Carters, Vera Wang, Food Network, and more), a wide selection of items, and amazing deals and sales.

A couple of years ago one of my biggest shopping dreams became a reality: Kohl’s built a brand new store just about 5 minutes away. It’s a LEED-certified store which is something of which they are very proud. Kohl’s is very devoted to being a good community partner and this is just one way in which they do it. Another way is through their Kohl’s Cares program, which we love. They regularly rotate in a new themed line of merchandise for $5 per item. We’ve bought a lot of kids books, stuffed animals, and cookbooks that were part of the program.

Pond's Luminous Skin Care Line

When I shop at a drug store there are two things I invariably purchase: nail polish and skin care items. I love to experiment with both new shades of polish as well as new formulations of skin lotions, face scrubs, exfoliators, and more. It’s my way of keeping on trend and current without breaking the bank.

As a teenager and 20-something I mostly focused on basic cleaning and keeping acne-free. Now that I’m in my mid-30s, though, my needs are different. I look for products that keep my skin bright, moisturized, and when possible contain SPF. The new POND’S Luminous line meets all my needs and more.

The Luminous line consists of four products:

POND’S Luminous Moisture Day Lotion with SPF 15
POND’S Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser
POND’S Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser
POND’S Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes

The cleansers each contain soft white Kaolin clay that acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling impurities. Between the Kaolin clay, the texture of the cloths, and the microbeads in the daily exfoliating cleanser, your face not only gets a great cleaning but also feels incredibly smooth after each wash. All the products are very gentle on your skin, however; as someone with sensitive skin that’s important to me and I can attest that the products didn’t irritate at all (they’re all hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and dermatologist tested). Are you looking for summer kids’ clothes?

Summer started early here this year; we were feeling the heat way back in May. Which means we’ve been wearing our flip flops, sundresses, shorts and tank tops for months now. As an adult, you can just keep tossing things in the laundry and wear them no matter how long summer lasts, but when you’re a toddler that is growing like a weed you’re going to run out of clothes before you run out of heat.

That was the situation we’ve recently run into; Bubbles summer clothes were starting to get a little small. If we only had a couple of weeks left before cooler fall temps, she probably could make it with what she has. But since it’s not quite August yet and we’re likely to still see 90s and maybe even triple digits through September, we needed to round out her summer wardrobe with a few extra pieces.

Look Great and Feel Great, Even in the Middle of Allergy Season

A few years ago, I developed allergies. Oh, joy, right? It was so confusing. After all, I grew up in Maine, playing outside all the time, and we had a dog from the day I was born all the way through my college years. Never so much as a sniffle or itchy eye.

But when they hit – they hit hard. Seasonal allergies, with the occasional pet dander allergy thrown in for good measure. I was a miserable mess of itchy eyes, congestion, the whole package. As a wife and mom, I can’t simply say “I’m taking a sick day”, though, so what’s a girl to do? There are a lot of options out there, but I had heard good things about Allegra, so I thought I would head to CVS and check it out.
