I received Eiffel Tower Jewelry as inspiration for my post. All thoughts and words are my own.

There’s always at least one person on my list each year that is kind of hard to shop for.  Whether they’re the person that has everything, or they say they don’t need anything, or the kids are kind of at an in-between age where they’re too old for toys but too young for just clothes and “adult” stuff.  You still want to get them something memorable and special, but what?

My mother-in-law sometimes falls on that “what do I get her?” list.  Sometimes she’ll mention something new she’d love to have, and that’s helpful.  Other times I sit and think and think and think and still come up dry.  But not this year!

Korbella Eiffel Tower Jewelry Made from Pieces of the Actual Eiffel Tower

My in-laws love to travel and last year they did a tour and cruise in Europe.  One of the places they had the chance to visit was Paris, France.  They even brought up back a beautiful candle that commemorates the building.  So when I found Korbella, a company that makes Eiffel Tower jewelry, I knew it would be the perfect gift for my MIL. I received a FabFitFun subscription box in order to facilitate my review.  No other compensation was received; all words and opinions are my own.

A week or two ago I shared with you my love of subscription boxes.  I might go so far as to say that subscription boxes are one of my favorite retail introductions of this decade.  Technically, I guess they’re not an entirely new concept.  Lots of companies have always sold mystery boxes, but this second-generation concept helps put a much finer point on what you’re going to receive.  Snacks, kids crafts, gluten-free foods, jewelry, beauty – they’re all available.

And it’s a beauty and health box that I wanted to introduce you to today.  The FabFitFun box is curated by Giuliana Rancic.  If you’re not familiar with Giuliana, she’s a co-host of E! News and Fashion Police, as well as Miss USA and Miss Universe contests.  She and her husband Bill also star in the reality show “Giuliana and Bill”. Continue reading »

I received a gift card to use with my oil change checklist while changing my oil.  All thoughts and words are my own.

A few weeks ago I shared with you a little bit about my history with car maintenance and getting my oil changed.  It wasn’t anything I had really done on my own; it was always something my Dad had done until my husband took over.  I’m a pro about making a phone call to schedule the appointment, but actually going to the service station?  Yeah, not so much.

Part of that was just because it’s been easier to let someone else deal with it, but part of it is because a lot of people in the car industry will look at a woman walking in and go “Oh, hey.  She doesn’t know anything at all, let’s make some money.”  The summer between my freshman and sophomore years of college I was car shopping, and I actually had a car dealership completely ignore me.  Even after I stood next to the vehicle that I truly wanted to buy – they looked at me through the glass and never stepped foot outside.  That is, until my father showed up to sign papers with me, which is when I asked him to meet me at the next dealership, because they no longer were getting my money.

Thank you to MOM for providing an oil change checklist and a prize for myself and one of you.

Car maintenance has never really been my “thing”.  I mean, my Dad made sure I knew a few of the basics: I learned how to change a tire, how to check the oil and coolant levels in the car, things like that.  But the tire thing I’ve never done and the fluid levels I haven’t checked on my own in years.

My Dad was good about always reminding me to go get my oil changed.  Apparently the sticker in the corner of my windshield wasn’t quite enough.  I’d go and drop off the car, they’d call, and I’d go pick it up.  What the man behind the curtain did, I had no idea.  And now my husband reminds me, though his reminder really only prompts me to make an oil change appointment, and then he takes the car for me.  So I still didn’t really know much about it.

Provella Daily Probiotics to Support Women's Health

College is a wonderful experience but it also can be an adjustment.  You’re responsible for your sleep, study, and eating habits.  Getting into a schedule of making smart choices for those habits can take awhile which can really wreck your system.  Add in the extra stress from writing all those papers (oh, and trying to have some sort of social life) and it’s surprising we make it through.

It should have been no surprise to me, then, when I started having digestive issues.  It got bad enough that when I was home on a break from school I went to the doctor just to be sure there wasn’t something wrong.  No, nothing wrong other than it’s a bad idea to live on pizza and three hours of sleep.  The surprising thing for me was that she encouraged me to start taking over-the-counter probiotics.
