Bubbles has really been in love with magnets for the last few months. It started with me trying to find something for her to do while I worked in the kitchen; she loves to be my helper, but there are parts she obviously isn’t old enough to do. So I pulled down all the “fun” magnets from the top of the fridge and had her rearrange them while I worked.

She liked it so much that I gave her a dry erase board with a bunch of magnets so she could play wherever she wanted. We came up with a few different games and activities for the magnets, but the small board, we were a bit limited in all we could do. I decided to look for a magnet set that would expand our play. When I saw the MagneTalk Match-Up Adventures Kit I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for.

Bread Dipping Oil Recipe

This dipping oil recipe was inspired by products received from Pompeian and Smiley360. All words and thoughts are my own.

It may sound funny, but I threw my first serious dinner party when I was in high school. I set the table nicely with linens, candles, and a centerpiece and served up four courses – appetizers, salad, entree, and dessert – to five of my closets friends. It was a lot of fun – even considering the fact that the guys ended up playing swords with the crunchy rosemary bread sticks and then attempted to light them using the candles.

Gotta love teenage boys.

Being a hostess has always come naturally for me, and even when I’m only “entertaining” my own family, I like to try and make our meals as nice as possible. Yes, we do take out now and then, and sometimes dinner comes out of the freezer. But if I can carve the extra time out of the day, I like to add little extras whenever I can.

Bread Dipping Oil Recipe

One “extra” that I like to serve is bread with dipping oil. Bread has always been a highlight of a meal for me; I’m sure it goes back to baking bread in the kitchen with my Gram while I was growing up. But after the first time my bread was paired with dipping oil and herbs at a restaurant one night, I’ve made it as a pre-dinner nosh a few times per year. Continue reading »

Once people find out you’re going to have a baby, you receive a lot of advice and “been there, done that” commentary. One thing I heard a lot about was diapers. Everyone talked about the sheer volume of them that you’d be purchasing over the next few years, and everyone had a suggestion on which brand they felt was “the best diaper”.

The comment on how many diapers you’ll use was spot-on. But as for brands, I received so many suggestions on which was “best”, I ended up just going with the brand I received for my baby shower. We’ve stuck with it most of the time that Bubbles has been in diapers. Here and there we’ve veered off to try another brand, and some of them would work for awhile, but we’ve always found our way back to our initial brand – until recently.

Bubbles wakes up dry every morning, and has for awhile now (a good sign, I think, that we’re ready to work a little more on full-blown potty training). But if she gets involved in playing before I can talk her into a potty break, then her first wet diaper of the morning almost always involves a change of clothes.

Thank you to Disney for covering my trip expenses to allow me to attend this great event! All words and opinions are my own.

Some days you wake up to happy surprises. You find $5 in the pocket of the jeans you put on, your spouse filled your gas tank so you don’t have to stop on the way to work, maybe the person in front of you at the coffee shop pays for your latte. And then there’s the surprise I woke up to the other day.

On that day, I opened an email that I had to read a couple of times to actually soak in. I was being invited to travel to LA and attend the red carpet premiere of Thor: The Dark World (in theaters 11/8)! Yep, that’s right – myself, along with 24 other bloggers, will soon be jumping on planes and heading to California. The Avengers and all the stand-alone movies that support the characters is one of my all-time favorite franchises, so this is incredibly exciting for me. Continue reading »
