I have received this product from MGA as part of their toy tester program. All thoughts and words are my own.

Let me state the obvious for just a moment: kids grow really fast.  I was swapping out the summer shoes for our fall and winter ones today and I noticed how much bigger Bubbles’ shoes are this year versus the size they were last year at this time.  She’s growing so fast!

Little Tikes Trike: 4-in-1 Sports Edition

It always makes me a little sad when I change out the seasons or upgrade the size of our kid gear.  Not just because it marks the passage of time – though that does make me sniffle some – but because most of what we clean out still has a lot of life left to it. Continue reading »

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Pull-Ups® Training Pants.

There have been a number of times over the past few months that I thought we were finally ready to start potty training.  Bubbles would take an interest and try to go when prompted, and sometimes even of her own volition, but it wasn’t ever anything that was at the top of the list.  It came down to the fact that my curious little girl was afraid she’d miss out on something fun and was too interested in the book/toy/whatever she was doing at the moment to stop for a potty break.

I was surprised, because everyone always talks about how girls potty train so early and so easily.  I didn’t really want to press the issue with her because I didn’t want to turn it into something negative that she was going to be even more against trying (did I mention that my curious toddler also has quite the stubborn streak?).  The time has officially come for us to start, though.  Bubbles looked at me the other day and said, “No more diapers, Mama.  I’m a big girl.”  No arguments from me!

So we picked out some big girl undies and have them as our goal for after Christmas.  In the meantime, we’re going to be using Pull-Ups® Training Pants.  There are a lot of events and excitement over the next few days and we decided that Pull-Ups® were the best option to help us build the bridge between diapers and undies while minimizing accidents and the need for a change of clothes. Thank you to Delta Furniture for sending us something to help with getting toddlers to pick up!  All words and opinions are my own.

Bubbles is usually pretty good about picking up her toys.  She might not get to them right away, and there may have been a whirlwind of blocks, trucks, dolls, and more around the living room and her bedroom before it’s completed, but it does get done.  Occasionally, though, it does take a little prompting.

Rather than turning those rare “I don’t wanna” toy clean up times into a flow of tears, Bubbles and I came up together with a game.  It’s such a fun game for her that she has been known to strew crayons and Lincoln Logs across the floor just so we can play.  No method is perfect, right?

One of Our Clean Up Games: "Find it Flashlight"

We call our cleanup game the “Find It Flashlight Game”.  And it’s very easy to play.  Bubbles brings me her little flashlight and I swirl the light beam around the room, saying “Hmm, what do I see… what do I see?”  Then the beam of light lands on a toy, and I call “I found something!” prompting Bubbles to run over to the toy, pick it up, and store it away. I received Luvs Super Absorbent product and compensation via Luvs through SheSpeaks in order to facilitate my review.  All words and opinions are 100% my own.

Once people find out you’re going to have a baby, you receive a lot of advice and “been there, done that” commentary.  One thing I heard a lot about was diapers.  Everyone talked about the sheer volume of them that you’d be purchasing over the next few years, and everyone had a suggestion on which brand they felt was “the best diaper”.

The comment on how many diapers you’ll use was spot-on.  But as for brands, I received so many suggestions on which was “best”, I ended up just going with the brand I received for my baby shower.  We’ve stuck with it most of the time that Bubbles has been in diapers.  Here and there we’ve veered off to try another brand, and some of them would work for awhile, but we’ve always found our way back to our initial brand – until recently.

Bubbles wakes up dry every morning, and has for awhile now (a good sign, I think, that we’re ready to work a little more on full-blown potty training).  But if she gets involved in playing before I can talk her into a potty break, then her first wet diaper of the morning almost always involves a change of clothes.

Favorite board books for toddler.

15 Fun Board Books Great For Young Toddlers

We’ve been lucky that Bubbles has enjoyed books and reading practically since birth.  She loves to climb up with Mommy or Daddy and have us read her a book or five, often with multiple readings of each book.  She is also equally content to sit and “read” on her own.  Recently I observed her sitting with one of her “lift the flap” books where you’re trying to find a certain item, and as she lifted each flap, she’d shake her head and say “no” for each incorrect answer.  It was pretty cute to watch.

We’re also fortunate that she has a very thorough library; we received a number of books from her baby showers, and we add to her collection on a regular basis.  I loved books as a child and so it’s hard for me to resist buying when I spot a cute one.  Some of them she has enjoyed more than others, so I thought I would share a list of 15 of our favorite board books.  Most of them are ones that Bubbles brings to us daily, if not multiple times per day.  If you know of anyone expecting, a few of these would make a lovely gift!
