Thank you to Goosebery Patch for providing a copy of Game-Day Fan Fare so we could try some waffle recipes.  All thoughts and words are 100% my own.

I’m kind of in love with waffles lately.  Which some (my parents) might consider odd, because I didn’t care for waffles growing up.  I actually didn’t love pancakes all that much, to be honest.  If I had breakfast, I wanted eggs and toast, maybe some bacon.  But in college on Saturday mornings they had a waffle bar and I started to dip my toe into the world of waffles.  I wouldn’t say I was a groupie, but they were on my radar.

But for the last few months they’ve been on my mind more than ever.  So when I saw that they made waffle plates for my Griddler, I knew it was fate.  After weeks of being out of stock, I finally scored a set and have been a waffle-making machine over the last few days.

What is your favorite football memory?

I know I’ve mentioned it once or twice lately, but football season is almost here!  This past weekend we even enjoyed some preseason games on TV.  Now we’re just counting the days until the NCAA games start.

We didn’t make it to any UK games last season, but the year before that we did.  Being inside Commonwealth Stadium – and I’m sure any NCAA stadium where you’re cheering on the home team – is such an amazing experience.  The sounds and smells swirl up around you, and you find yourself alternately groaning on every missed pass and goal and screaming at the top of your lungs for excellent plays and touchdowns. Need Some Backyard Tailgating Ideas?

I know I’ve mentioned a few times that we are big football fans around here; when you live in Kentucky, it’s almost a requirement.  We love it in all it’s forms: from high school, to college, to the pros.  Bubbles even attended her first game before she was born!

Blank Backyard Canvas Perfect for a Dream Tailgating Spot #SummerWithSears

Great space for Bubbles to, well, chase some bubbles! But needs a little work before it’s a Backyard Dream Tailgating spot!

Along with football, though, comes another fun activity that we enjoy – and that’s tailgating!  And just because you can’t actually get to every game it doesn’t mean you have to miss out on tailgating; you just home-gate, instead.  We have a good blank canvas (as you can see above) for backyard tailgating at our new place, but it needs a few things to jazz it up a bit first. My husband’s aunt makes a great Hot Artichoke Dip that she serves at Thanksgiving, Christmas and other special occasions.  It’s one of my favorite snacks and I’d been craving it lately.  So I got the recipe from her and made it on Sunday for us to snack on while we watched the football game.  (I would have shared it with you on Sunday, but I couldn’t find the USB cord for my camera.)
Here’s the recipe for you; you can put it together quickly, and then just throw it in the oven an hour before you’d like to serve it.
