It’s been warm enough to count as summer here for awhile, but for some reason mid-June has always felt like the ‘official’ start to summer for me. Probably because during my middle school and high school years school always released around this time. I guess I still have a case of “school’s out for the summer”.

Bubbles has started to give suggestions of things she wants to do this summer and places she wants to go. We’re also trying to include Austin and his thoughts in our summer planning as he’ll be leaving for boot camp in about a month. Being my “favorite helper” has become a part-time job for Bubbles. It doesn’t matter what I’m doing, she wants to be right there with me. Which is fine with me!

One of her favorite ways to help is in the kitchen. Anything she can stir, pour, shake, roll, whatever – she wants to help do it. So when HABA offered to send over some of their adorable silicone molds for us to play with, I couldn’t say no.

Bubbles practically squealed with delight when they showed up. Some of her favorite shapes were represented: princess crowns, flowers, sea creatures, and more. I participated in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Lay’s. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

This summer has been filled with days that alternate between pouring-down-rain and melt-your-face hot. But it hasn’t stopped us from enjoying lots of fun activities. We’ve splashed in the pool, built castles in the sand, said hi to the animals at the zoo, visited the local farmers’ markets, and played games at a local carnival. And that’s all just in a few weeks – there’s lots of summer left!

Lay’s is celebrating this summer, too, and not just the carefree days of no school and warm weather. They’re celebrating 75 years of being the perfect summer snack.
