Fall is here and that means colder temperatures. After months of being in the 80s and 90s, it’s actually supposed to be pretty cold here the next few days. That means it’s time to think about putting away the t-shirts and flip-flops and digging out the sweaters and boots.

As much as I love my flip-flops – and I do love my flip-flops – I look forward to switching out my wardrobe and moving into comfy, cozy fall fashions. Not only do clothes get cozier in material and style, but the color palate changes, too. As the leaves change more earthy tones seem to abound and I get to wear some of my favorite colors: chocolate browns, cranberry, burnt orange, and others.

I think I’m probably a lot like most women, especially those of us who don’t have a trust fund, in that I keep my closet filled with a lot of basics that are easy to mix and match. But I do like to add a couple of pieces and a few accessories each season to help me keep current with the trends. I don’t want it to break the bank, though, so I keep my eyes peeled for great sales on quality items and shop for great accessories at places with great prices to match. Places like Meijer!

Before moving to Kentucky I had never even heard of Meijer. Once I shopped there a couple of times, though, I was hooked. They have a large, well-stocked grocery section paired with pretty much anything else you could want – toys, seasonal merchandise, pet supplies, and of course clothes and accessories. A couple of weeks ago I shared with you all that Kohl’s might be a good choice for back to school fashion for kids. They’re hard to beat when it comes to getting a great deal. They already have great sale prices, but when you pair them with the sales passes that offer you 15-20% off your purchase (sometimes more, especially for those with a Kohl’s Card), plus Kohl’s Cash (usually $10 off your purchase), plus the occasional coupons, you’re talking about serious savings.

By the time you get to his age – he’s a senior in high school this year – it’s not really about the backpack or even a “first day” outfit. When you’re putting together your outfit for the day, you probably think about what accessories you’ll add, too. Shoes, a bag, earrings, necklace, maybe even a belt. A few years ago, I developed allergies. Oh, joy, right? It was so confusing. After all, I grew up in Maine, playing outside all the time, and we had a dog from the day I was born all the way through my college years. Never so much as a sniffle or itchy eye.

But when they hit – they hit hard. Seasonal allergies, with the occasional pet dander allergy thrown in for good measure. I was a miserable mess of itchy eyes, congestion, the whole package. As a wife and mom, I can’t simply say “I’m taking a sick day”, though, so what’s a girl to do? There are a lot of options out there, but I had heard good things about Allegra, so I thought I would head to CVS and check it out.
