Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving.  I know that’s pretty late, considering the actual date for Thanksgiving was a couple of weeks ago.  But it ended up being the date that let the most people attend, and made it possible for Ashley and her boyfriend to come, as well as my parents from Maine who are here visiting for a few days.

Sausage Cornbread Stuffing is a tasty side dish for holiday parties

I love when my parents are able to be here for holidays as they get a chance to see how traditions differ not only from family to family but from region to region.  For example, here in Kentucky all my Thanksgivings have involved corn pudding and chicken & dumplins, something you wouldn’t expect to see on a holiday spread in Maine. This shop and Buffalo Chicken Dip recipe has been compensated by #CollectiveBias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone.

When we tailgate, I like to provide a lot of options.  Appetizers, entrees, desserts, beverages – I want my family and friends to leave feeling like they couldn’t eat another thing even if they wanted to.  It’s a trait I picked up from my Gram, who always said “Your plate is looking a little empty” no matter how much was left on your plate.

Over the weekend, we were planning to watch a lot of football.  So of course I needed to plan a lot of food to go with it!  I decided to run to Meijer to pick up everything I needed for my Buffalo Chicken Dip (always a crowd-pleaser) and my Mom’s Ice Cream Dream Squares, one of my absolute favorite desserts.

This post on fall fashion is sponsored by Meijer.  All words and opinions – and fashion sense – are my own.

Fall is here and that means colder temperatures.  After months of being in the 80s and 90s, it’s actually supposed to be pretty cold here the next few days.  That means it’s time to think about putting away the t-shirts and flip-flops and digging out the sweaters and boots.

As much as I love my flip-flops – and I do love my flip-flops – I look forward to switching out my wardrobe and moving into comfy, cozy fall fashions.  Not only do clothes get cozier in material and style, but the color palate changes, too.  As the leaves change more earthy tones seem to abound and I get to wear some of my favorite colors: chocolate browns, cranberry, burnt orange, and others.

I think I’m probably a lot like most women, especially those of us who don’t have a trust fund, in that I keep my closet filled with a lot of basics that are easy to mix and match.  But I do like to add a couple of pieces and a few accessories each season to help me keep current with the trends.  I don’t want it to break the bank, though, so I keep my eyes peeled for great sales on quality items and shop for great accessories at places with great prices to match.  Places like Meijer!

Meijer 2013 Fall Fashion Lookbook #MeijerStyle

Before moving to Kentucky I had never even heard of Meijer.  Once I shopped there a couple of times, though, I was hooked.  They have a large, well-stocked grocery section paired with pretty much anything else you could want – toys, seasonal merchandise, pet supplies, and of course clothes and accessories. All of the items on my shopping list are slowly getting crossed off.  I’m not as done today as I was at this same time last year, but I’m not worried.  I know what I need, I just need to get out there and get it.  I don’t really know why I’m behind, though; our list only grew by one name.  That name is Gus, my father-in-law’s dog that was his Christmas present last year.
