It’s definitely a kids entertainment kind of week. Here are some of the highlights.

I’ve always been glad that reading to Bubbles is not something that we have to force. Even now that her interests are growing in other areas, it hasn’t changed. She’ll still pick up a book multiple times per day to thumb through on her own, or to bring to one of us for a snuggle and story.
One of the newest books that’s in our rotation is “Owl Always Love You”. It’s the story of Mommy & Daddy’s love for their little one, made even more personal by the fact that Bubbles’ name is printed on nearly every page. Sharing a sentiment that I want her to think about as she falls asleep, “Owl Always Love You” really is the perfect addition to our nightly routine.

We do a whole lot of princesses and fairies around here, but Bubbles is also a fan of trucks and race cars, too. She has a little Chuck the Truck that she loves to drive around so I wasn’t surprised that she is a big fan of The Adventures of Chuck & Friends Bumpers Up! DVD that we recently received.
The DVD is packed with ten full episodes. In them Chuck, along with this friends Digger, Handy, Rowdy, Biggs, Boomer & Flip, learn a lot of lessons and have a lot of fun. The lessons portion of the show is one of the reasons I like to let Bubbles watch. There’s a lot of fun children’s entertainment but it isn’t always easy to marry that with positive messaging in a way that will keep kids engaged.

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you all that Kohl’s might be a good choice for back to school fashion for kids. They’re hard to beat when it comes to getting a great deal. They already have great sale prices, but when you pair them with the sales passes that offer you 15-20% off your purchase (sometimes more, especially for those with a Kohl’s Card), plus Kohl’s Cash (usually $10 off your purchase), plus the occasional coupons, you’re talking about serious savings.
Because I know that Kohl’s is one of the best places to get the biggest bang for my buck, we recently took Austin shopping there for a few back to school items. By the time you get to his age – he’s a senior in high school this year – it’s not really about the backpack or even a “first day” outfit. The last few days of summer vacation are dwindling away, and the lazy days of summer are about to turn busy as schools go back in session. Whether your child is heading off to school for the first time, is returning for their last year, or falls somewhere in between your calendar is likely going to be full of sports practices, after school activities, concerts, school project deadlines and more. It can get even trickier if you have kids of multiple ages, in different schools, all with their own activities taking place simultaneously. We try and keep on top of things with phone apps and synced calendars, but sometimes you just need to write things down in a central location.
