Iron Man 3 Opens May 3rd

I can’t believe that Iron Man 3 opens in just over a month! It’s one of the movies I’ve most been looking forward to all year (since it was announced last year, actually). Actually, the whole family is pretty anxious to see it. Bubbles will definitely be spending a couple of hours with Papaw and Grammy that night so everyone else can go.

If you can’t wait until the May 3rd opening you might be in luck. If you head over to the Iron Man 3 Facebook page right now you’ll have the chance to win a trip to Los Angeles for the April 24th world premiere! That would be one exciting trip. College Basketball Viewing Party Prep With Walgreens' Balance Rewards #SnackMadness

For those who read my blog regularly you know that we’re huge University of Kentucky college sports fans. So this time of year – the college basketball season and the following Tournament – is especially fun for us. The Cats aren’t exactly lighting up the boards this year (which is not usual for us – the University of Kentucky basketball team is the winningest team in college basketball history) so I’m not even sure that we’ll see them in the tournament. Of course our fingers are still crossed that they will, but even if they don’t make it, we’ll still be watching the games.

When you have teenagers life can be a little unpredictable. You never know when they’re going to call and say “Oh, by the way, I’m bringing five friends over to watch the games”. And if you have teenagers – especially teen boys – you know that filling the pit they call a stomach isn’t easy. Carrot sticks and pretzels aren’t going to go very far. Fortunately we have a Walgreens just down the road – literally like a mile – that’s easy to pop into and grab last minute party supplies. Continue reading »

Party Ideas to Celebrate Oz the Great and Powerful

I love a themed party, which you probably could tell from my Avengers family night and Minnie Mouse party ideas for Bubbles’ birthday party. I have some fun ideas planned for some of this summer’s upcoming movies and one of them may just need to be an Oz the Great and Powerful party. I am so anxious to see it after hearing all the great reviews. Fortunately it opens next week so the wait is almost over. We’ve actually been invited to a pre-screening early next week and I’m hoping that we’ll be able to attend.

Oz the Great and Powerful: Journey to Oz Tour Balloon

Hot air balloons have always been fascinating to me. When I was very young, one abruptly landed on my parent’s lawn (true story, a topic for another post). They are also a large part of the celebration around the Kentucky Derby. There is a Balloon Fest (which includes a race, tour, and glow) here each year and it’s quite a sight with balloons of every color and dozens of designs.

So the new Journey to Oz Tour Balloon is something I find very cool. The balloon had it’s first appearance during the premier at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on February 13th (search the hashtag #DisneyOzEvent on Twitter and you may see some photos of it from a few fellow bloggers who attended). The second appearance was today at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Two more planned stops include the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach on February 20th and then Central Park in New York City on March 5th and 6th. Continue reading »

Oz the Great and Powerful

There is so much exciting Oz the Great and Powerful news to share with you all. As the movie’s March 8th release date draws closer it seems something fun and Oz-y is being announced or released almost every day. Just in the past week there have been three new items – and I have them all for you.

First, Disney just announced that superstar Mariah Carey has recorded the song “Almost Home” for the movie. You’ll have a chance to hear it before the movie, too; it’s going to be released as a single on February 19th. “‘Almost Home’ has a message that works beautifully with the film,” Mariah Carey says of the song she co-wrote and co-produced for Oz The Great and Powerful. “It’s a feel-good record; it gives you the feeling of reaching your home and being with people that you love.” Continue reading »
