There are a lot of times I’ve missed my Gram in the last year and a half since she passed, but this time of year it’s especially so.  Gram was all about Christmas and everything it entailed from making our own fresh wreaths in her barn to baking up fat stacks of cookies to deliver to friends and family to decorating her house from top to bottom.

Classic Candy Cane Cookies are the perfect sweet treat for the holidays

One of the cookies that she made every year were her Candy Cane Cookies.  They were probably my favorite holiday treat that she baked and she would bring them to our house by the dozen.  I’m pretty sure there may have been times I ate them by the dozen, too. Continue reading »

I’ve been having all kinds of fun this year with baby shower recipes, DIY baby gifts, and cute ideas for “Baby’s 1st” everything.  Honestly, I wish I had the time and energy to have done a lot of these things right after Bubbles was born, but I was pretty exhausted those first few months.

Marve's Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas, now on Digital Download & DVD

Let’s talk about all the reasons Ant-Man is a Marvel movie not to miss. Continue reading »

This shop and my suggestions for preschool toys to donate has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BIGDeal #CollectiveBias

I’ve always felt it was important to teach Bubbles to have a kind and giving heart.  Small acts of kindness go a long way in this world, and I want her to think of others and not just herself.  I also want her to know the joy of brightening someone else’s day.

If you need ideas for preschool toys to donate, here are 5 great options!

As a family, we shop every year for gifts that we’ll donate to the various toy drives and angel trees in town.  Friends and family often comment that they would like to do something similar, but had two concerns in common.  One was the cost of giving during an already expensive time of year (and during an already tough economic climate) and the other was a lack of knowledge in what kids might like.
