Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful Movie - Opens March 8th, 2013

There is so much exciting Oz the Great and Powerful news to share with you all. As the movie’s March 8th release date draws closer it seems something fun and Oz-y is being announced or released almost every day. Just in the past week there have been three new items – and I have them all for you.

First, Disney just announced that superstar Mariah Carey has recorded the song “Almost Home” for the movie. You’ll have a chance to hear it before the movie, too; it’s going to be released as a single on February 19th. “‘Almost Home’ has a message that works beautifully with the film,” Mariah Carey says of the song she co-wrote and co-produced for Oz The Great and Powerful. “It’s a feel-good record; it gives you the feeling of reaching your home and being with people that you love.” Continue reading »

So God Made a Farmer – and a Grandfather

Last night’s game started off rather boring. The commercials weren’t really doing anything for me, either. Then the Dodge Ram ad came on and there was silence – and a few tears – in the room.

See, I grew up on a farm. My paternal grandfather was a farmer, my maternal grandparents were farmers, and my parents helped out on both sides. And while I listened to Paul Harvey’s voice share all the special characteristics of farmers, I couldn’t help but think especially of my maternal grandfather who passed away a few years ago.

My grandfather worked hard. Farmers’ days don’t start when the sun comes up and they don’t end when it goes down. He would be up and out to work many times by 4 a.m. (a schedule that my grandmother, who is in her 80s, still often keeps). And that was after getting up in the middle of the night to go stoke the fires in the potato houses so the harvested crop wouldn’t freeze in the middle of sub-zero Northern Maine winters. Toddler Birthday Party Ideas

Bubbles is turning two this month and I can’t believe it. It honestly seems like the other day that she fit in the nook of my arm; now when I pick her up and we’re eye-to-eye, her toes dangle against my knees. Every day she surprises us with a new phrase. activity, item, or look. This month in the Turning 2 Toddler Birthday Celebration I’ll be sharing a lot of great things that she loves that I think other toddlers will enjoy.

Before the month gets too far away from me I’m trying to decide on a birthday theme for her party. Pocoyo is favorite character but the merchandise for it is almost non-existent and I haven’t been able to find any party supplies. So we’re looking at other options. She takes after her Mama and is a little Disney girl which makes something Disney a top choice. She loves Minnie Mouse, the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse show, Tinker Bell, and the princesses (she can name them all, with Rapunzel and Ariel being two of her favorites). #SB47 Commercial Sneak Peek

We always watch the Big Game on Sunday and it’s usually because of the football with the commercials being an added bonus. This year’s teams don’t really excite us much, so this Sunday will be mostly about the commercials, with the football a distant second. Fortunately there will be two commercials highlighting Disney’s amazing upcoming movies! I cannot wait to see them in their entirety but in the meantime, I have a sneak peek of both to share with you!

Creating a #MomCave With La-Z-Boy

We’ve been planning out some projects for this house this year. Almost every room needs something: new furniture, paint, accessories, a new layout. This has given me a reason to spend a lot of time online browsing furniture stores to get inspiration and give us some focus for when we actually go shopping.

I need #MomCave inspiration from La-Z-Boy!

Can you read the cover of the book? It’s a book about “If…” I decided to leave it on the shelf because it fit my mindset of what this room could be, “if only…”

One of the rooms that needs to be redone is the office. It’s kind of a sad-looking room to be honest. If you’re like me, when you start home makeovers you probably choose rooms that other people can, you know, see. No one goes into the office except us so it’s been much lower on the list to get attention. There’s a huge desk that hubby and I share, and a treadmill. And blinds. Oh, and Bubbles’ diapers and wipes (out of site yet still quick to grab when needed). Exciting, huh? Continue reading »
