Thank you to Dr Pepper Snapple & The Motherhood for sponsoring this post on balance.

This year I’ve been trying to share with you tips and suggestions for finding balance, whether it’s through food choices, fitness, enjoying family time, or even carving out a little me time.  So when the folks at the Dr. Pepper Snapple Group (DPS) asked if I’d sit in on a conference call to talk about balance, I had to say yes.

Let's Play Initiative from Dr Pepper Snapple Group - helping to build playgrounds and provide sporting equipment in partnership with KaBOOM! and Good Sports

DPS believes that healthy lives depend on balance, including balancing the calories you take in with the calories you expend.  Through innovation, R&D, and corporate social responsibility programs, they’re making a commitment to help make that balance easier to achieve. Continue reading »

Thank you to My Body Village for sponsoring this post on healthy habits. Making it fun keeps the kiddos engaged!

It’s hard to tell in some parts of the country – you know, the ones that just got an extra foot or so of snow in the last week or two – but spring is starting to bloom around us.  A lot of people use the onset of warmer weather as a way to renew the resolutions that have waned since the New Year.

Weekly healthy habits challenges from My Body Village - This week's challenge is to play a board game!

If your family could use a little nudge to get on track with their own healthy habits, My Body Village has some fun weekly challenges to help you out.  Each week focuses on a different organ and a way to help make it healthy or exercise it.  For example, this week’s challenge is from Raymond Brain, and he wants you to play a family board game. This shop and my trifle recipe & milkshake shooters have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions, photos and recipes are mine alone. #GameTimeMVP #CollectiveBias

Over the weekend I spent some time working on more of my menu for game day.  When I’m trying something new, or even just a variation on something I make often, I like to give them a trial run to ensure they work out the way I think they will.  No one around here minds needing to eat some of the same things twice, I promise.

Game Day Recipes: Butterfingers Peanut Butter Cups Minis trifle recipe & milkshake shooters with DiGiorno Cheese Stuffed Crust 5 Cheese Pizza #GameTimeMVP

I’ve been kind of loving the ButterFinger Peanut Butter Cups since they came out, and when I saw the new ButterFinger Peanut Butter Cups Minis at Walmart not that long ago an idea started to form.  My Mom makes an amazing chocolate trifle with crushed up candy bars.  I thought it would be perfect to replace the candy bars with chopped up ButterFinger Peanut Butter Cups Minis so I picked up a bag to bake with (as well as a smaller bag to snack on). I received an Avalon Bay Air Fryer for the purpose of this review. This post was made possible by Mom Spark Media. Thoughts are my own.

I kind of love fried foods.  Don’t you?  I’m not sure if it’s because I grew up in Maine where we always had plenty of potatoes which meant lots of homemade french fries, or what, but that crispy outside with the warm, soft inside – yeah.  It’s good.

I don’t always love the extra calories that come with frying, though.  Many of you may be in the same boat, especially since this time of year a lot of people are recommitting to their health and healthy eating.  Which may mean you’ve sworn off fries, chips, mozzarella sticks, fried fish, or a number of other things. This BelVita Bites & V8 shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #NewBreakfastRoutine #CollectiveBias

When I started blogging full time, I realized that I was going to need to schedule my day a little differently, even though I had been working from home for a few years.  I started getting up early in the morning before everyone else to get some quiet writing done and check a few other tasks off my to-do list.  As I no longer had conference calls to worry about, that left my afternoons and evenings a little more flexible for family time.

Create an easy morning routine with BelVita Bites and V8 Veggie Blends #NewBreakfastRoutine

Part of my morning routine has always been some form of V8.  While I am a coffee drinker I don’t like to run the machine until everyone (including Bubbles, who sleeps in) has gotten up.  A V8 beverage always gave me the morning pick-me-up that I needed, plus was an easy way to add in extra veggies to my diet.
