While my parents and brother were visiting over Thanksgiving and the week after, I planned a trip for us to the Louisville Slugger Museum here in town.  My entire family are huge baseball fans (I love baseball, myself) but my brother Jeff, especially, lives and breathes the game.  As this was his first time in Louisville, I knew it would be a fun surprise for him if we could go.

The bat in front of the Louisville Slugger Museum is an exact-scale replica of the model R43, 34" wood bat, designed to specifications requested by Babe Ruth in the early 1920s. It stands 120' tall, making it the World’s Biggest Bat.

I had never been to the Slugger Museum either and, oddly enough, even though my husband has lived here pretty much his entire life, he also had never been.  I knew Bubbles might be a little young to appreciate it all, but she’s always happy to go anywhere, especially with her Uncle Jeff. The information, gift card, gift pack and giveaway have been provided to me by Hard Rock International. No celebrity or musician has endorsed the “Does Your Child Look Like a Rock Star” contest.

Bubbles loves music. Especially when she gets to sing, or when she gets to “play” the guitar – which she called her “rockstar” for about a year. So when we heard that Hard Rock International was launching the fun new Roxtars, I knew we had to find out more.

This post about Chris Buescher and the Balance Financial Card is a partnered post. All thoughts and words are my own.

Recently ROUSH Fenway Racing driver Chris Buescher made a pit stop (pun intended) in Louisville this past week as part of the Walgreens Race Around America.  Throughout this cross-country tour he’s helping to build and test an icon of speed and engineering – the ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang.  And the best part is we all get to help!

First, your votes actually choose the course of the race.  Then you can also help make the choice on which upgrades the Mustang gets along the way.  Make smart choices because you could actually win the final result, the completely souped up ROUSH Stage 3 Mustang! Head over and cast your first votes now. Continue reading »

When I was a little girl, I was beyond excited when friends of our family – Rod and Wendy – asked me to go on a weekend vacation with them.  Much to my surprise, part of the weekend festivities was attending a Disney On Ice show.  I still can remember sitting in my seat with my program on my lap, anxiously waiting the start of the program.

Disney On Ice Princesses and Heroes

I have been wanting to take Bubbles to see one of these shows for awhile now.  With as much as she loves Disney, I have no doubt that she’ll love Disney On Ice.  My theory is supported by the fact that every time the commercials are on TV she jumps up and down and asks if we can go. I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere Agency has sponsored this post on Johnny Iuzzini and Macy’s. All thoughts and words are my own.

This past weekend was the Kentucky Derby, which is held right here in town. The Derby is a huge event in and of itself, but the entire city parties for at least a couple of weeks ahead of time. Celebrities roll in, charity events are held, and there are lots of associated things to do, also.

Chef Johnny Iuzzini, Macy's Culinary Council

So when I heard that one of the events would be a cooking demo at our local Macy’s, conducted by Johnny Iuzzini, one of their Culinary Council members, I was pretty excited.  When I found out that I’d also get a few minutes before the demo to interview him, I was even more excited.  I’ve been a fan of Chef Iuzzini’s work for quite a long time and I was interested to see what he would have to say.
