We were recently invited to come check out the Bonefish Grill Louisville location and see what they’d been, pardon the pun, cooking up during their remodel.  My husband and I have enjoyed our previous dining occasions at Bonefish Grill, so we were more than happy to stop in and see what was new.

Sea Scallops + Shrimp with White Truffle Mac + Cheese - Bonefish Grill LouisvilleThank you to the Bonefish Grill Louisville for hosting us!

Bonefish Grill is pretty famous for their Bang Bang Shrimp, which we do of course love.  This time, though, we decided to steer away from our traditional favorites and try some new things. Continue reading »

Trying out new restaurants was one of my husband and I’s favorite things to do when we were living in Florida.  There were so many so close to us that we tried to get to one new place every other week or so.

Mellow Mushroom has fun decor unique to each location, like this fun Churchill Downs-inspired decor at the Middletown, KY location.

There are a lot of great ones to try here in Louisville, too; Louisville is quickly becoming known as a real foodie town.  But between having a baby and moving to the edges of the city we haven’t had a chance to try as many new ones as we’d like. Continue reading »

This Saturday is the national Free Seat Check Saturday. are going to be events all over the country, but if you’re in the Louisville area, I have the event you’re going to want to attend!

Before I get into all the details, did you know that according to Safe Kids, 73% of car seats are installed incorrectly?  That’s a crazy-high number, but it’s one I can understand.  There’s a lot to read up on and understand: LATCH or no LATCH, what’s considered “armpit level” for the chest clip, rear- or forward-facing?

Do yourself (and your kiddo) a favor and stop into one of these free seat check Saturday events.  If Grammie & Grampie or your caregiver have a car seat installed in their car, invite them to come along, too. Continue reading »

I am a member of the Everywhere Society and Everywhere has provided me with compensation for this post. However, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Last year I had the pleasure of attending the Macy’s Culinary Council Cooking Demo here in Louisville.  While there I interviewed Johnny Iuzzini and was able to watch as he whipped up some dessert magic.  I’m really excited to share that he’s returning to the Macy’s at Oxmoor Center again this year, and will be accompanied by Stephanie Izard (season 4 winner of Top Chef) and Louisville’s own Edward Lee.

Whether you’re a Louisville native or if you’re just in town for the Kentucky Derby, I’d love to have you join me at this year’s cooking demo!  In addition to seeing Johnny Iuzzini again, I’m kind of stoked that Stephanie Izard is going to be there.  Top Chef has been one of my favorite shows over the years, and she’ll be the third Top Chef contestant I’ll have the chance to meet. While my parents and brother were visiting over Thanksgiving and the week after, I planned a trip for us to the Louisville Slugger Museum here in town.  My entire family are huge baseball fans (I love baseball, myself) but my brother Jeff, especially, lives and breathes the game.  As this was his first time in Louisville, I knew it would be a fun surprise for him if we could go.

The bat in front of the Louisville Slugger Museum is an exact-scale replica of the model R43, 34" wood bat, designed to specifications requested by Babe Ruth in the early 1920s. It stands 120' tall, making it the World’s Biggest Bat.

I had never been to the Slugger Museum either and, oddly enough, even though my husband has lived here pretty much his entire life, he also had never been.  I knew Bubbles might be a little young to appreciate it all, but she’s always happy to go anywhere, especially with her Uncle Jeff.
