The other day I shared with you my Disney Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition review.  But, as they always say, there are two sides to every story.  Until recently, we only knew that Aurora was good and Maleficent was evil.  The live-action tale of Disney’s Maleficent, available tomorrow on Blu-ray and DVD, may give you a different outlook on the classic tale.

Maleficent Review - Angelina Jolie as Maleficent

Whether or not you’re specifically a Disney Villain fan, you will love this movie.  You will also have Lana Del Rey’s “Once Upon a Dream” stuck in your head for approximately the rest of your life.  And that’s not a bad thing at all. Continue reading »

As much as I love all the new Disney movies, there will always be a special place in my heart for the classics.  So I was really happy when they released the Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD combo a few weeks ago.  Sleeping Beauty is only the 10th film released as part of the prestigious Blu-ray Diamond Edition collection.

Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition Blu-ray + DVD: Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip

Bubbles knew of Sleeping Beauty from some of her books but had never watched the movie.  I was offered a review copy so when it arrived, we sat down that night to get her caught up on the story of Aurora, Maleficent, Prince Phillip and the sweet fairies Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather.  Bubbles was familiar with them more than any of the characters, as they are also characters in the Sofia the First TV show. Disney shorts have always been one of my favorite things about Disney movies.  The shorts have been a way for artists to play around and try out new concepts before turning them into bigger projects.  They also can give us brief peeks inside the lives of characters we already love.

I’m not alone in my love for them, apparently, because you can buy Pixar Short Films Collection 1 and Pixar Short Films Collection 2 on DVD.

Now that Bubbles is older, I feel confident in taking her to see movies at the theater.  She loves the experience of the big chairs and the big screen, and even if she doesn’t always catch every joke or nuance, she likes laughing along with everyone else.  And if she also gets to order some popcorn, she’s in seventh heaven.

The Cooper Family Surviving Another Day inin Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, #VeryBadDay

When I received the invite for us to attend a screening this past week for Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day I suspected that it would be a good choice for the whole family.  It is, after all, based on the children’s book of the same title.  Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was a book I remember enjoying as a kid, and so I was interested to see how it would translate to the big screen.
