The other day I shared with you my Disney Sleeping Beauty Diamond Edition review.  But, as they always say, there are two sides to every story.  Until recently, we only knew that Aurora was good and Maleficent was evil.  The live-action tale of Disney’s Maleficent, available tomorrow on Blu-ray and DVD, may give you a different outlook on the classic tale.

Maleficent Review - Angelina Jolie as Maleficent

Whether or not you’re specifically a Disney Villain fan, you will love this movie.  You will also have Lana Del Rey’s “Once Upon a Dream” stuck in your head for approximately the rest of your life.  And that’s not a bad thing at all. Continue reading »

While I generally cheer for the good guy, I have to say I love a good villain (which may explain why I consider myself one of Loki’s Ladies).  And now Maleficent, Princess Aurora’s nemesis in Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, is getting her own movie, and I’m thoroughly intrigued.

Angelina Jolie as Iconic Disney Villain Maleficent #Maleficent

Updates for Maleficent have come slowly, but each time one is shared, it’s absolutely amazing.  Like the recent release of the new movie poster which shows off the classic Disney villain Maleficent (played by Angelina Jolie) and her awe-inspiring wings. I know it’s quite advanced notice, but any new Disney movie release notice is always exciting news for me!

The Walt Disney Studios has announced a U.S. release date of March 14, 2014, for Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie in the title role as Disney’s ultimate villain.  The live-action film explores the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney’s animated classic Sleeping Beauty.  Leading a team of visionary filmmakers known for creating and transporting audiences to new and exciting worlds, Academy Award®-winning production designer Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Oz The Great and Powerful) will direct with a script by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Alice in Wonderland).  Maleficent is produced by Joe Roth (Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Oz The Great and Powerful).

I think Angelina Jolie is a really good choice to play Maleficent – she has that dark, brooding vibe and I can completely see her as a villain.  What do you think?  Was Angelina the best choice, or would you have chosen someone else?
