I’m so, so excited for the Disney movies 2015 slate that was recently shared with me.  It is going to be an absolute powerhouse year with a new Avengers film, a new introduction into the Star Wars franchise, and some other great titles – both live-action and animated.

Disney Movies 2015! The Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Slate for 2015 has been released. Titles include Strange Magic, McFarland USA, Cinderella, Monkey Kingdom, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Tomorrowland, Inside Out, Ant-Man, The Jungle Book, The Good Dinosaur, Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I’ll have more in-depth coverage of each film as it gets closer to release dates, but here are twelve movie dates and names so you can start marking your calendar. Continue reading »

Disney’s Into the Woods opened on Christmas Day and I have heard nothing but great things about it.  I’ve always loved musicals and musical theater – and actually did some theater in high school – so I’m really looking forward to this adaptation.  Unfortunately I’ve been under the weather for the last few days so we haven’t made it over yet but hope to next week.

Into the Woods fun facts: Mackenzie Mauzy as Rapunzel in Disney Into the Woods

In the meantime I’ve been enjoying listening to the phenomenal Into the Woods soundtrack.  Did you know that the music for the film was pre-recorded over a two-week period at Angel Studios in London with a 56-piece orchestra, composed of some of the best musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra and London Philharmonic? Bubbles hasn’t been feeling very well the past few days.  She feels a little bit like she’s missing out on all the Christmas festivities so I decided to put together a couple of fun activities that she could do while sitting.  In fact, she really doesn’t even have to get off the couch unless she feels like it.  The games I created are easy to play sitting, standing, or on the go.

Having fun with Disney Planes toys and Disney Planes-themed Christmas games (like a printable Christmas Word Search, and a matching game) #PlanesToTheRescue

I chose these two activities for another reason, too.  First, Bubbles has been very interested in learning how to spell and read lately so I thought a Christmas word search would be good practice.  And second, she loves to match and sort (everything in the house) and chocolate kisses are her favorite treat; I thought it would be fun to combine the two. I’m about to put two names together that I really never thought I would.  Those two names are “Disney” and “Lewis Black”.  And I’m seriously in love.

Who else but Lewis Black could be Anger in the new Disney*Pixar film Inside Out, coming June 19, 2015

I have been a Lewis Black fan for a long time.  A few years ago my husband and I even had the opportunity to see him perform live here in Louisville.  Pretty sure I own all his albums, too. Continue reading »

Somewhere around junior high my family started a new tradition of the entire family going to a movie on Thanksgiving night.  There were 10 or so of us that went and it was always a fun way to end the day’s festivities.  There were a surprising number of other people there, and I found out that for many it wasn’t just a Thanksgiving tradition, it was a Christmas one, too.

Into the Woods opens Christmas Day 2014

I’m trying to remember if we saw any movies on Christmas Day.  If we did, none really stick out to me.  But this year, I think that’s going to be different.  Because this year Into the Woods opens on December 25th and I think it’s going to be awesome. Continue reading »
