I’m so, so excited for the Disney movies 2015 slate that was recently shared with me. It is going to be an absolute powerhouse year with a new Avengers film, a new introduction into the Star Wars franchise, and some other great titles – both live-action and animated.

Disneynature Bears roars into theaters today and I’m so excited for a number of reasons. First, growing up in rural Maine, I’ve seen my fair share of bears (as in, “Oh, look, guys. There’s a bear in our yard.”) and I’m really looking forward to a movie dedicated to them in their natural environment. I also have yet to be disappointed by a Disneynature film; the first four releases were Earth, Oceans, African Cats and Chimpanzee, and they all were gorgeous, engaging movies.
I also love that Disney has continued to invest so much in showcasing nature. One one of my first visits to Walt Disney World in Florida, we had the chance to visit Discovery Island, which closed in 1999. It was a zoological park where you could see animals in their natural environment, watch shows, etc. – kind of a precursor to the beautiful Animal Kingdom. Continue reading »
Disney has released their lineup of new movies for 2014 and I’m so excited. There’s a great mix of live-action and animation, new titles and additions to existing franchises. I can’t wait to share more with you all as details are continued to be released throughout the year. And check out my 2013 Disney Movies recap to catch up on last year’s best hits.
There are lots of good things coming to DVD and Blu-ray in the near future. Plus lots of free, fun movie-related activities, theater releases, and more. I cover them all in this week’s entertainment roundup.
Disneynature’s Bears will be the fifth release from Disney’s newest film label. It will open in theaters on April 18th, 2014 to celebrate Earth Day. Make plans to see it during opening week as Disneynature, via the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, will make a donation to the National Parks Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks.
