Yesterday Bubbles and I went out for a Mother/Daughter day for a little pre-birthday celebrating.  It’s been so cold we haven’t been able to go many places, but yesterday dawned sunny and in the 50s.  She had a couple of birthday certificates for different places that had come in the mail, so I thought we’d use those, then see what the day brought.

We stopped by the mall first; I had a couple of stops I needed to make first, and then she was in charge of our itinerary.  One of the certificates we had was for a free birthday cookie slice from Great American Cookie, so we picked that up.  Bubbles loves watching the fountains in the middle of the mall, so we grabbed a spot on a bench and watched them while she munched.

With the mall and a cookie behind us, we dropped into Toys ‘R Us.  They send out a small birthday gift card if you’re part of their email list, so she was going to be surprised with getting to choose a little treat to take home.  Plus getting to spend time in a toy store is fun for anyone, right? This post brought to you by Now Resorts & Spas. All opinions are 100% mine.

Anyone else spend these cold winter days dreaming of a tropical vacation?  I can almost feel the sand between my toes and the sun on my arms.  It’s a far cry from having to bang a half-dozen times on my mailbox to get the ice to shatter enough to open it.

My day dreams are being fueled right now by Now Resorts & Spas.  I saw photos from their resorts recently and I it made me wish I could hop a plane and head out to one of their four locations.  Three resorts are in Mexico and one is in the Dominican Republic, and they’re all gorgeous.

Now Resorts & Spas

One of the things I like most about Now Resorts & Spas is that even though they’re an All-inclusive luxury resort they have a strong focus on Family travel.  This is important to us when we consider travel plans because when we vacation, we vacation as a family.  Bubbles could enjoy the Explorer’s Kids Club (ages 3-12) and Austin would be able to ditch the lame “old people” and check out the Core Zone Teens Club (ages 13-17).  Both have supervised activities by specially trained staff at no extra cost. This is a sponsored post. I am a Sears blogger, though all opinions are my own.

I have to say that I’ve always enjoyed winning things.  I think the first thing I remember winning was a plush Popples toy (if you have no idea what I’m talking about, you weren’t a young child in the 80s) from a school raffle.  My most recent wins were a few free candy bar coupons that showed up in the mail today.

There are lots of sweepstakes, instant win games, and giveaways around the internet.  One great – and maybe surprising – place to look for them, though, is on the Shop Your Way Rewards website.  The site offers a wide range of sweepstakes and prizes, from points you can use at Sears and Kmart to diamonds and vacations.  To date, Shop Your Way #SWEEPS has had over 40,000 winners!

Shop Your Way HDTV Sweepstakes

Right now one of their top contests is an HDTV sweepstakes.  They’re giving away a 65″ 3D LED HDTV, and you can bet I’ve entered myself!  It’s one prize that my husband has let me know he’s be pretty okay with me winning.  The television includes shipping, accessories, and installation, for a total prize worth of nearly $4,000. I can’t believe I’m typing this, but Bubbles turns 3-years-old this month.  Seriously, I know the cliches about growing up so fast and how time flies – but it’s just so true.  She’s more preschooler than toddler, and lets us know what a “big girl” she is on a regular basis.

Her birthday party will be this weekend, and when offered multiple choices on party themes she, unsurprisingly, chose Disney Planes.  So this week I’ve been working on a few favors and supplies.  I still need to finish up the party favors and treat bags, plus finalize my cake design.  But I think I have all the table decorations and paper goods so not too much left to do.

Which is good, because Bubbles is super-excited about her party.  She asks every morning if it’s her birthday yet, rattles off the guest list, and asks about her Disney Planes cake.  She also has invited pretty much everyone at any store we’ve been to in the past two weeks. Continue reading »

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

The world is watching Sochi right now as athletes from around the world compete for personal pride and love of country.  We’ve tuned in with them; it’s hard to not be drawn to something so amazing.  Am I the only one that watches and wonders, “Man, if only I’d taken ski lessons”?

While my own personal Olympic dreams may have never been more than a wish in a review mirror, it’s exciting to think about what the future might have in store for Bubbles.  Right now she loves so many different things it’s impossible to guess what sports or activity she may eventually settle into.  She’s loved watching the Olympics with us, particularly the skiing and skating, and has made us chuckle as she jumps up and down cheering “Faster!  You can do it, go!”.

Pampers knows our littlest athletes have big dreams ahead of them, too.  So they’ve partnered with Team USA members Noelle Pikus Pace (who already snagged a silver in skeleton!) and David Wise (freestyle skiing).  They’re both parents and, like Pampers, are proven performers. Continue reading »
