I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for HUGGIES. I received product samples to facilitate my review.  All opinions are my own.

HUGGIES Little Movers Slip-On Diaper Pants

Bubbles, for the moment, is still in diapers (though we’re making some progress on that).  But now that she’s older and feels like a big girl, she does not like to have to pause and lie down to have her diaper changed.  This is a somewhat new development – as a baby and younger toddler she would easily comply with a diaper change request.  Now if you mention that it’s changing time, she’s down the hall faster than you can say “diaper” (or occasionally trying to “hide” behind the couch).

I thought it might be time to make a change to our routine to keep everyone happier and so was glad when I had the opportunity to try the Huggies Little Movers Slip-On Diaper Pants®.  These diapers are different in that they come pre-fastened so all you have to do is slip them on your little one.  My first thought was “okay, how will this work and will we end up with wet pants if I’m not adjusting them myself?”  Fortunately the stretchy side tabs help provide a great fit.  And the Huggies Leak Lock® Protection held true keeping her dry without any accidents.

Family Dollar Kidgets Wipes & Diapers

Kidgets Diapers and Wipes at Family Dollar

Like most baby showers, our showers when Bubbles was born presented us with a number of diapers.  Most of them were for a specific national brand and they worked well, so we stuck with them.  Along the way we did try a few other store brands but just didn’t get the performance from them that the other diaper brand provided.  We also purchased the brand’s matching wipes as they had a gentle variety that I thought would benefit a tiny baby’s bottom.

Buying diapers and wipes month after month, however, can really add up and you start looking for ways to reduce those costs: coupons, buying in bulk, subscribe and save.  One thing I didn’t look for, though, was another store brand to try.  Recently, though, I discovered that our town has a Family Dollar which I hadn’t shopped in since I lived in Maine years ago.  They have their own line of diapers – the Kidgets brand – and also just recently added wipes.  At $6.50 for 31 diapers (size 4) and $2 for a 72-count package of wipes I thought it might be worth it to give them a try – especially considering we had recently been experience some leaking issues with Bubbles’ regular brand. Showing the Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40!

Last week I had the chance to help co-host a couple of Graco events at our local Babies R Us.  Dianna (a local Louisville blogger who blogs over at The Kennedy Adventures) and I were able to share information about the new Graco SnugRide Click Connect 40 with both some local bloggers as well as some pregnant mamas-to-be.  It was such a fun time full of demos, games, snacks, and of course lots of information!  If you follow me on Instagram, you may have already caught some of the photos I shared.

Baby Safety Month:  Monitoring Your Child

For a very long time Bubbles wouldn’t sleep unless one of us were holding her, lying next to her, or within arm’s reach.  While it made for some long nights, it did make that parental urge to check your baby’s breathing much easier.  We didn’t have to keep getting up and checking another room; we just looked down.

Now that Bubbles is older and has her own toddler bed, she enjoys having her own special sleep place.  She still likes to fall asleep within sight of us (and still fights bedtime sleep like a professional boxer) but once asleep we move her to her bed and she’s content.  While it’s good to see her independence grow – and also to be able to actually do the dishes while she sleeps now – it did put us in need of a monitor.  The audio ones are nice and have been helpful for decades; I remember playing with the one my Mom had for my younger brothers.  But I really wanted to try one of the new video and audio combo ones.

National Baby Safety Month: Bath Time Safety

Baby Safety Month: Bath Time Safety

Bath time for many kids is one of the highlights of their day.  I know that with Bubbles we now actually have to spell the word bath or she runs to the bathroom door and starts trying to wriggle out of her clothes like an escape artist.  She isn’t that crazy about having her hair washed, but once that’s out the way, she plays happily until her fingers start to prune and she reluctantly lets us pull her out of the tub. While bath time is fun time, it unfortunately can also be dangerous.  Being diligent while watching your child bathe is important, but there are also safety measures that you can take ahead of time to reduce the risks.
