Create Pampering Gift Baskets With NIVEA

Give the gift of soft skin with NIVEA lotion

One of my favorite things to do this time of year is shop for our Angel Tree names.  We try to choose at least one or two each year, and we involve the whole family in the process.  This year we added Angie’s Angels to our shopping list for tree names.  Angie’s Angels make sure that folks living in long term care facilities – folks that often are overlooked, many without any family – receive a few gifts for the holidays.  This organization struck a chord with me as a few of my relatives in the past have been in this type of facility.  When I was little my mother would make sure we’d stop by and visit other residents while we were there.  Most of them never received any other visitors; it was nice to be able to give them a little company.

I heard the call for Angie’s Angels on the radio where they shared a standard list of requests that they put in every gift bag.  It included deodorant, sweatshirts, magazines, and lotion.  The winter weather brings dry skin for a lot of us, but often the elderly are more susceptible than many others. Trying to keep on top of your own appointments, to-do lists, and other required activities can be hard enough.  Keeping yourself organized plus keeping the entire family’s schedules straight – that can be hugely stressful!  One is going to piano lessons, another is heading to basketball practice; Mom has a doctor’s appointment, Dad has to make dinner.  Plus the baby will need a few feedings and diaper changes in there.  But who’s counting, right?

Halloween Decorations From Hallmark

I’ve shared before (many times) my love for Hallmark and especially their Christmas ornaments and decorations.  Did you know, however, that they also have an awesome assortment of decorations for other holidays, too?  Their selections for Halloween will make your house the most fun and festive on the block!

This is our first Halloween in this neighborhood and I was excited to find that most everyone seems to enjoy decorating for the holiday.  There are tombstones, ghosts, pumpkins, witches, and much more dotting lawns, porches, and front doors up and down the street on which we live.  Our house had been looking a little sparse – but thanks to Hallmark, no more!

For more than 40 years General Mills Big G Monster Cereals have been enjoyed by kids and adults alike.  And right now you can find your favorite Franken Berry, Count Chocula, and Boo Berry varieties at Target – but only for a limited time!  If you have little ghouls who would enjoy these you’ll want to get them while you can.

Big G Boo Berry Monster Cereal

We don’t do a lot of sugary cereals in our house but I have always said all things in moderation.  The cereals have no cholesterol or saturated fat, and are considered to be a good source of whole grain, calcium, and nine essential vitamins and minerals.  So I am okay with serving up a few bowls of Monster Cereal to increase the fun of the Halloween holiday.  My personal choice would be to nosh on the Count Chocula; the rest of the family seems pretty partial to the Boo Berry, though.
