Now that Bubbles is older, I feel confident in taking her to see movies at the theater.  She loves the experience of the big chairs and the big screen, and even if she doesn’t always catch every joke or nuance, she likes laughing along with everyone else.  And if she also gets to order some popcorn, she’s in seventh heaven.

The Cooper Family Surviving Another Day inin Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, #VeryBadDay

When I received the invite for us to attend a screening this past week for Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day I suspected that it would be a good choice for the whole family.  It is, after all, based on the children’s book of the same title.  Alexander and the Terrible Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day was a book I remember enjoying as a kid, and so I was interested to see how it would translate to the big screen. Disney Planes Fire and Rescue flew into theaters yesterday.  We had been promising Bubbles for weeks that we would go to see it the day it opened.  There was a 2:30 p.m. non-3D matinee, and so we packed up some snacks and headed to the theater.

The very moment the movie started, Bubbles exclaimed “That’s the song from the first Planes movie!”.  She was right; the instrumental intro was music shared from Disney Planes.  I liked how they tied them together right from the start. Continue reading »

I received a DVD of Chuggington videos in order to facilitate my review. All thoughts and words are my own.

Bubbles has taken a real shine to motorized vehicles that talk.  Of course, my husband is thrilled, because this means lots of play time with trains, planes, cars, and all other manner of things that go.  Where trains are concerned, she especially likes Chuggington.

We’ve watched a few Chuggington videos, mostly on TV at night as we’re trying to settle down for bed.  So I of course had to say yes when we were offered a review copy of the new Chuggington DVD Brewster Leads the Way.  It’s definitely received a lot of play time as Bubbles has worked to learn the names of all her train buddies.

Chuggington Videos: Brewster Leads the Way DVD

The Chuggington series focuses on three main trains: Wilson, and his friends Brewster and Koko.  They participate in challenges that test courage, speed, and determination.  They’re supported by a number of other trains, and people too, that help them learn the skills they need to be the best trains possible. I received the Despicable Me 2 DVD/Blu-ray Combo Pack in order to facilitate my review.  All thoughts and words are my own.

I vividly remember going to the first Despicable Me movie with my husband and Austin.  I remember it because one of my favorite lines from any movie has since become “It’s so fluffy!” shouted by Agnes as she’s handed a stuffed unicorn.  I’m not entirely sure why it struck us all as so funny, but it’s been kind of an inside joke since then.

Despicable Me 2 DVD and Blu-ray Combo Pack

When Despicable Me 2 came to theaters this past summer, we decided that it would be Bubbles’ first theater movie.  She loves the little yellow minion buddies and we didn’t really anticipate any scary parts.  She did pretty well, but eventually got fidgety enough that we decided to leave before it was over (no one wants to be those people). My family was invited to a screening in order for me to write my Disney Frozen review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

From the moment I saw the first previews, I knew that Disney’s Frozen was going to be a big hit.  And after having had the opportunity to see it with my family a couple of weeks ago, I’m calling that it will soon become a classic.  The animation, the songs, the story – it all adds up to amazing.

This was the second movie we had taken Bubbles to see at the theater but this was the first one she was able to stay and watch until the end.  Even after sitting in the theater for about thirty minutes prior to the movie starting, she happily sat in her seat for the whole thing, turning away from the screen only occasionally to share a laugh with me.  I don’t know how I had forgotten that it was going to be in 3D, but she opted not to wear her glasses and still enjoyed it.

Disney Frozen Review

At it’s center, Disney’s Frozen is about the relationship between sisters.  Princesses and sisters Anna and Elsa have always been so close, playing and having fun in their family’s castle.  Elsa has a special gift, the ability to create things from snow and ice.  Often the sisters would sneak downstairs while their parents slept and skate, slid, and play with the snowman named Olaf that Elsa brought to life for them.
