Are you looking for summer kids’ clothes?

Summer started early here this year; we were feeling the heat way back in May.  Which means we’ve been wearing our flip flops, sundresses, shorts and tank tops for months now.  As an adult, you can just keep tossing things in the laundry and wear them no matter how long summer lasts, but when you’re a toddler that is growing like a weed you’re going to run out of clothes before you run out of heat.

That was the situation we’ve recently run into; Bubbles summer clothes were starting to get a little small.  If we only had a couple of weeks left before cooler fall temps, she probably could make it with what she has.  But since it’s not quite August yet and we’re likely to still see 90s and maybe even triple digits through September, we needed to round out her summer wardrobe with a few extra pieces.

I recently had heard of CookiesKids.com and after checking them out I was really impressed.  They have a great variety of name-brand clothing at really awesome prices.  But what exactly is Cookies Kids? Continue reading »

Over 30 years ago Ocean Music produced The Classic Nursery Rhymes Collection on VHS and it sold over a million copies!  For an old-school VHS, those are pretty significant numbers.  With newer technology, though, VCR players are nearly as rare in the home as a rotary telephone.

I’ve mentioned in the past that Sprout TV and PBS Kids are two stations that we, along with Bubbles, enjoy watching.  They have a number of great shows in their line up, one of which is the Super Why series.  Well, the Super Readers are setting out on a new adventure that will take them around the world and they would like you to join them!

Super Why: Around The World Adventure DVD

The Super Readers are made up of Whyatt, Princess Pea, Red Riding Hood, and Pig.  They are also joined by Woofster, their book-loving puppy pal with Dictionary Power.  We loved that Woofster is making his DVD premier, as Bubbles is currently in love with dogs.

The DVD includes three adventures: Around The World Adventure, Nalia And The Magic Map, and Jasper’s Cowboy Wish and runs for 90 minutes.  In addition to the three adorable episodes (which we’ve now watched at least three times each; Bubbles highly approves), the DVD includes a number of extras.  There are interactive games, music videos, printable activity and coloring pages (which Bubbles has also enjoyed putting her mark on), and a resource guide for parents to help encourage your budding readers.

The first two episodes will be airing on a special on-air event tomorrow, but if you don’t happen to catch them, the DVD will release on June 19th.  Right now you can pre-order it on Amazon for under $12 and it ships free with Prime or Super Saver Shipping.  And follow PBS Kids on Twitter and Facebook for future announcements, specials, and more.

I received a product in order to facilitate my review.  No additional compensation was received and all opinions, as always, are 100% that of myself and my family.

Bubbles has gotten to the point that unless she’s eating on her own, it’s hard to engage her during mealtimes.  She wants to be a big girl and feed herself all the time, which is, of course, great.  It’s exciting to see her learn and I’m proud when she asserts her independence (yes, I know – I might not be saying the same thing when she gets a little older and can say a few more words!).  That independence, though, usually comes at the price of cleaning mashed potatoes out of her belly button and nose.

The other piece to her desire to self-feed is that my husband is constantly worrying that she’s going to jab herself in the back of the throat or poke her eye out with a spoon.  She’s much more coordinated than that – most of what she spoons does actually make it straight into her mouth – but, you know.  I guess it could happen? Someone mentioned the other day that our children are much better dressed than we were as children.  While I think my mother did a great job dressing me, the fashions of the day then just don’t compare to what’s available today.  If you look in my closet and then you look in Bubbles closet, you’ll quickly release that the smallest member of our household has probably the widest wardrobe selections of us all; it’s just too hard to pass up all the cute toddler gear!
