A few weeks ago I shared with you a Mom-to-Be Mother’s Day gift idea as a way to share the announcement that my sister-in-law Abby and my brother Sam are pregnant with their first baby.  I am so excited that I’m going to be an Auntie, as I have a lot of great memories of doing fun things with my aunts.

Classic Egg Salad Sandwiches - this egg salad recipe is easy and delicious.

To extend the fun, over the next few weeks I’m going to be sharing lots of baby and baby shower fun.  Baby shower recipes, crafts, DIY gifts and decorations, must have baby items and more.  Follow along with hashtag #BabyCBabyShower on Twitter and Instagram so you don’t miss any of the fun. We are so thankful that the weather is progressively getting better and better.  We move from snow in March (let’s not think about any more of that) to a very, very, very rainy April.  But that old adage is true – April showers have brought May flowers, and with them the opportunity for a lot more outside fun.

It’s been in the 80s for the last few days and according to the forecast that’s going to hold for the rest of the week, too.  Some days are even supposed to peek into the 90s.  But because this is Louisville, I know that we could wake up tomorrow and it’s 20 degrees out, so I wanted us to get out and have some fun in case the weatherman was wrong. While I don’t consider myself a real fashionista (maybe when my days include less crawling under bushes for lost golf balls or baseballs and more afternoon massages?) I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for shoes and bags (well, and earrings).  And while my bags (and shoes) are more function than flair these days, I do like them to be at least somewhat stylish.

Function & Fashion for the Techie Mom - Modal Concept Tote Bag

As a blogger and all-around techie mom, when I leave the house my devices usually leave with me.  My phone and a car charger are the bare minimum and depending on where I’m headed I may even have my laptop with me.  But I still need space for juice boxes, coloring books, and fruit snacks, too. Bubbles celebrated her 4th birthday back in February.  I had big plans of sharing the entire thing with you at that time, but we were all sick both prior to and following her birthday, so sharing the details kind of slid to the back burner.

One Bowl Elsa Doll Cake Tutorial for a Frozen Birthday Party

As she’s getting older now and definitely has her own opinion on things, I let her choose her own party theme this year.  We looked at some different options online and in the stores, and in the end she (unsurprisingly) chose a Frozen theme.  And once we had decided on Frozen, I knew I wanted to try my hand at an Elsa cake. I’ve been a “gamer girl” for as long as I can remember.  In the 3rd grade my elementary school let us sign up to bring home the classroom PC every now and then.  I remember playing a fairly basic computer game on a green screen and loving every second of it.

Gamer girl (or guy)? Take your gaming on the go with the AMD FX APU HP Envy Touchsmart Gaming Laptop

Fast forward a few (okay, a lot) of years and games have come a long way.  And so have the specs you need on a decent machine to run most of them.  In a lot of cases, that means having a serious gaming tower if you want to play any of the newer, resource-intensive games. Continue reading »
