Filling stockings at Christmastime is one of my favorite parts of the whole holiday.  There were many stocking traditions in my family.  Some have evolved over time and some are still unchanged to this day.

Over 125 Stocking Stuffer Ideas for All Ages

As kids, we each had a Christmas stocking hanging in our bedrooms; they usually only had one or two items in them but they were great for kicking off the excitement as soon as our feet hit the floor.  Then we moved downstairs to the tree, where our stockings – beautiful, hand-knit stockings that my aunt made each of us – had been left hanging from the fireplace the previous night.  Now they would be lying on the floor, filled to bursting. Thank you to PBS KIDS for providing us with DVD copies of Dinosaur Train and Super Why! to view.  All words and opinions are 100% my own.

Just because it’s summer break, that doesn’t mean that learning stops.  PBS KIDS want to make continued learning easy for you and your family this summer.  To help with that, they have made available four new DVDs starring some of their most well-loved characters.

PBS KIDS Dinosaur Train: Nature Trackers DVD

In Dinosaur Train: Nature Trackers we were able to join Buddy, Tiny, Shiny, and Don as they traveled on the Dinosaur Train and learned about everything from stargazing to gardening.  If your child loves everything related to the outdoors they will love this DVD. Continue reading »

There are a number of fun things to do through the holiday season.  Carols, hot cocoa, snuggling in new PJs while watching The Polar Express.  Growing up I was even lucky enough most winters to go on a real sleigh ride pulled by horses.  Sometimes the sleigh would even show up, like magic, at our house, driven by Santa.  I didn’t need much of a nudge to be in love with the holidays, but that certainly whispered some Christmas magic into a young girl’s ear.

I put together a December Bucket List with suggestions to make your holidays extra-fun.  Some of them might not be feasible in all parts of the country – building a snowman in Florida, for example, is a bit of a challenge.  Maybe you could make a sandman on the beach instead!  Whatever you choose to cross off from the list, the main point of this type of bucket list is just to have a good time and make some memories with your families.

What items are on your personal December bucket list?  I’d love to hear what traditions you and your family share.

There are lots of yummy treats during the Christmas holidays.  Cakes, cookies, brownies, cheesecakes and more.  I love to make a wide variety of them, but they can take a little time to bake and assemble.  So what can you make when you have guests on the way or when your kids remind you that they need to take a treat to class in an hour?

Try making these yummy marshmallows.  With colored candy coatings and festive sprinkles, they look like the gourmet marshmallows you buy from confectionery stores but are low-cost, quick and easy to do.

This Santa Belly Ornament is so cute, you’ll want to make a whole set of them to give to friends and family.  You may have even seen them on Pinterest. Some people I know do themed trees or multiple trees to decorate with, and if you have a Santa-only tree you’ll want a few of these, for sure.  They’re fairly fast and easy to complete, and with the tips I can share through my own trial and error, you’ll have no trouble at all.
