This is a sponsored conversation on behalf of the Huggies MomInspired Grant Program. All words and opinions are my own.

Have you ever been doing something and thought to yourself “this would be so much easier if only I had…”?  What if that thing you wish you had didn’t exist?  Does it pass from your mind, or do you start thinking about creating a product to meet that need?

If the latter sounds like you, then Huggies has a program you may find very interesting.  They are currently in the 4th year of their Huggies MomInspired Grant Program which provides awards of $15,000 to up to 12 people.  This money will allow the winners to further expand on that idea and work to actually produce that creative idea that will help make parents’ lives easier.

Bubbles has been very interested in all the projects I’ve been working on for the Christmas in July series and she has wanted to lend a hand in most of them.  Not all of them lend themselves well to her age group, but today I have a fun and easy craft that you and your kiddos can do together.  You may want to do the mixing part yourself, but once the salt dough ornaments are done, the kids can have fun painting and personalizing them.

This recipe is great because you can use it to make pretty much anything.  We used cookie cutters to cut out holiday shapes; some of them we painted, some we’ll leave “natural”.  You can also press the kids’ hands or fingerprints in them to make milestone ornaments (which make great, inexpensive gifts for the grandparents, too).

I previously shared this ornament a couple of years ago just before my brother and now-sister-in-law got married.  A lot of people do different creative things with the couple’s wedding invitation; return it to them in their card, frame it, etc.  I wanted something just a tiny bit out of the ordinary and this ornament fit the bill for me.

I thought I would re-share it with you now as it fits in well with the Christmas in July theme.  There are usually lots of summer weddings, so you can start collecting your invitations and getting started on your ornaments now.  By the time the holidays roll around, you’ll have memorable ornaments to present.

I participated in a campaign for Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Lay’s. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

This summer has been filled with days that alternate between pouring-down-rain and melt-your-face hot.  But it hasn’t stopped us from enjoying lots of fun activities.  We’ve splashed in the pool, built castles in the sand, said hi to the animals at the zoo, visited the local farmers’ markets, and played games at a local carnival.  And that’s all just in a few weeks – there’s lots of summer left!

Lay's 75 Days & Sunny Photo Contest

Lay’s is celebrating this summer, too, and not just the carefree days of no school and warm weather.  They’re celebrating 75 years of being the perfect summer snack.  As part of that they are recreating iconic summer images using just Lay’s packaging.  Check out their Pinterest album to see all the cool images already shared.  If you’re a DIYer you might enjoy the tutorials on how to recreate some of the images, too.
