When I started blogging full time, I realized that I was going to need to schedule my day a little differently, even though I had been working from home for a few years. I started getting up early in the morning before everyone else to get some quiet writing done and check a few other tasks off my to-do list. As I no longer had conference calls to worry about, that left my afternoons and evenings a little more flexible for family time.
Part of my morning routine has always been some form of V8. While I am a coffee drinker I don’t like to run the machine until everyone (including Bubbles, who sleeps in) has gotten up. A V8 beverage always gave me the morning pick-me-up that I needed, plus was an easy way to add in extra veggies to my diet.
One thing that hasn’t always been part of my morning routine is breakfast. Last year I set the goal of eating breakfast each morning and for awhile I was pretty consistent; by the end of the year, though, it was sporadic at best. I’m well aware of the benefits of eating a good breakfast, though, and I felt that recommitting to a morning meal would go a long way towards helping me with my 2015 goals.
While at Target over the weekend I found myself in the back of the store in the new seasonal section. “In with the New” was exactly what I was looking for so I took a few minutes to browse around. When I spotted a few new varieties of V8 – V8 Veggie Blends in Carrot Mango, Purple Power, Healthy Greens and Golden Goodness – I had to snag a couple. Especially since green juices are on my list of things to try this year.
When I looked up, I also noticed a shelf of BelVita, including some new BelVita Bites. I’d tried the full-size breakfast biscuits before and loved them, so I knew I’d enjoy the Chocolate and Mixed Berry Bites. Made with 75% juice each 8 ounce serving of V8 Veggie Blends has a full serving of veggies; paired with the BelVita bites I would have a winning combination for morning energy.
While in the same area I noticed some fitness gear. Hubby and I had talked about trying yoga together this year so I picked up a couple of mats and a beginner’s yoga DVD. I figured that it would be a great way for us to ease into it.
That’s one of the things I love about shopping at Target. Just one trip and I’d already found lots of things I needed to put my yoga, green juice drinks, and breakfast goals within reach. They’ll be having a sampling event on January 24th, too; check with your local Target for times. There’s also BelVita Cartwheel savings available until January 31st and two V8 Cartwheel savings, one starting on January 25th and the other on February 23rd.
Liza this is great! I depend on quick and healthy breakfasts, because I leave the house for work by 6:30 every morning. I love the new V8 Veggie Blends – the carrot mango is my fave! And those belVita Bites make it easy to grab and go!
I do not miss having to be out the door by 6:30 a.m., Kirsten! I’d probably need a gallon of V8 Veggie Blends to get me going for that!
Many thanks for sharing your tips and your morning routine #client
I had gotten really off track with eating breakfast as well and it was causing me to feel so tired throughout the day. Here’s to a new morning routine for both of us!
