I am a member of the Collective Bias #cbias Social Fabric Community.  This is a #FamilyMobileSaves sponsored post on adding a line to the Walmart Family Mobile unlimited plans. All words and opinions are my own.

A few weeks ago I shared with you that my family was on the lookout to find more affordable mobile unlimited plans.  That’s when I first introduced you to Walmart Family Mobile.  A bit after that I followed up to let you know how we liked the plan and whether or not we were saving money with the new service we had tested.

We have a few more months to go on our contract (Walmart Family Mobile has no contract – yay!) so unfortunately we can’t ditch them completely just yet.  But after seeing such a large savings paired with consistently good service we decided to keep the new line I activated for a pretty specific reason.  That reason is my Mom. When you’re putting together your outfit for the day, you probably think about what accessories you’ll add, too.  Shoes, a bag, earrings, necklace, maybe even a belt.  You might choose what color nail polish or eye shadow to put on.  Some people may even take the accessorizing as far as matching up an umbrella, coat, or hat.  And lots of people have multiple cases for their phones to switch it up based on their mood or clothes.

One accessory you might not think about, however, is your headphones.  Why should you go for boring and plain when you put so much thought into the rest of your style?  Fortunately, now there is a pair of trendy headphones from Frends that are just as rockin’ as you are.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Soundfreaq. I received a Soundfreaq Sound Platform 2 to facilitate my review.

Music has always been a huge part of my life.  Growing up I took years of piano lessons (which I still love to play when I get the chance) and sang in both my high school and college chorus groups.  When I wasn’t playing or singing, I was listening.  And to this day hearing a certain song will trigger memories of fun events with friends and family.

It wasn’t as easy to listen to music when I was a kid (I sound like an old granny talking about walking to school, in the snow, uphill both ways).  Cassette tapes weren’t exactly convenient or high-tech.  It’s funny, as the kids queue up music on their phones, I tease them now about how you actually had to listen to the whole tape or use the fast forward button just to find the one song on the album you actually liked.

Technology has come a long way, hasn’t it?

Now that I’m married with a family, I’m glad that they love music, too.  We listen to the radio in the car, as well as to downloaded and streaming music and shows at home or on the go through our phones and laptops.  It’s great to have so many choices but much of what we have to choose from makes listening a solo activity.

My successful search for affordable family mobile unlimited plans was compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.

A few weeks ago I shared with you the news that Walmart now had family mobile unlimited plans for only $40 per month.  I had signed up for the service (you can see my whole signup experience here) and promised to come back and let you all know what our results were and if it’s something we recommended.  In short – very good and yes!

Bill Via Text for the Walmart Unlimited Family Mobile Plan #FamilyMobileSaves

First let’s talk about the savings.  I received my prorated bill (via text) a couple of days ago and went online to the account management website for more details. For 15 days of service my bill was $26.26, and that includes taxes.  As a reminder the plan includes unlimited talk, unlimited text, and unlimited web.  Compare that to my current service, where for the first line on my family mobile plan I’m paying, with taxes, $95.30.  That includes 550 shared minutes, a data plan that is NOT unlimited, and I think like 200 texts.  That’s more for one non-unlimited line than I would pay for two unlimited lines with Walmart. I’ve always been, as they say, a “talker”.  There is a picture of me in fuzzy pink footed pajamas, sitting sideways in a rocking chair with my feet up on one arm; the cord of the phone is stretched from the wall to my little hand, and I’m twirling a strand of hair.  I tried to find it to share with you but it may still be in the boxes of photos that my Mom has for me.

I’m not sure whom at the age of 4 I needed to talk to – and so casually – but that clearly was just the beginning bloom to my gift of gab.  As I got older I remember quite a few marathon phone sessions with friends.  Back then texting didn’t exist, so you couldn’t just send three or four words back and forth electronically.  You had to stay on the line to complete a conversation.

While I may not spend quite as many minutes (hours) on the phone now as I did then, I do rack up my share of minutes each month.  With my parents living in Maine, not only do I like to check in on them regularly, they also like to talk to Bubbles on the phone quite often, also.  I had always felt like we had a fairly decent cell phone plan – until last summer, that is.  We finally took the plunge and upgraded to smartphones with data plans.  I knew our bill would increase but I didn’t realize by just how much.
