I share a lot of movies with you all, many of which are specifically for the kiddos or the whole family. But sometimes moms need a little chick flick break, so today I thought I’d share a new double feature available from the Hallmark Channel. The DVD includes Meddling Mom and The Sweeter Side of Life.

I had to start with The Sweeter Side of Life for two reasons. One, it stars Kathryn Morris who played Detective Lilly Rush in Cold Case, which was one of my favorite shows in the mid-2000s. We’re coming into the last of the dog days of summer and, at least around here, they are making quite the impression. The temperatures in the mid- to high-90s for the past few days, and when you walk outside you feel like you’ve accidentally stepped into a sauna. It’s not really stay-outside-and-play-all-day weather, which isn’t easy to explain to a toddler.

I don’t wear a lot of jewelry on a day-to-day basis. When you’re chasing after a toddler it’s a good idea not to have anything that dangles. Being strangled with a necklace or having your earlobes torn open by a snagged earring isn’t really my idea of a good time. But though I don’t get to wear it as much as I’d like, I still love a good accessory.

Recently I heard about Wantable.com, a subscription box focused around fashion and beauty. They actually have two “paths” you can choose from: makeup (full size products) or limited edition accessories. While I have a serious love for nail polish, I thought it would be fun to go the jewelry route and see just what showed up on my doorstep.

Thank you to Hamilton Beach for providing a Breakfast Sandwich Maker to make our back-to-school mornings run more smoothly. All thoughts and words are my own.

It can take a few days to settle into a new schedule once school goes back in session. You may be tempted to skip breakfast for yourself, or the kids may say “oh, I’ll grab something at school” (who knows if they will) as they run out the door. But as breakfast has been shown to help concentration during the school day, it’s important to resist the urge to add a few minutes to your day by ignoring breakfast.

For our family we keep our mornings on track with breakfast sandwiches. In the past I purchased the frozen kind; lite for me, regular for everyone else. While convenient they’re not exactly inexpensive plus you’re limited to just a few flavor combinations. Then the folks at Hamilton Beach sent us their new Breakfast Sandwich Maker and our mornings got a lot more tasty.

I’m completely in love with this little machine. Especially with it’s versatility. It’s kind of like having a short-order cook that can provide you with a plethora of breakfast sandwich creations, satisfying whatever morning cravings you and your family have. I’ve always been glad that reading to Bubbles is not something that we have to force. Even now that her interests are growing in other areas, it hasn’t changed. She’ll still pick up a book multiple times per day to thumb through on her own, or to bring to one of us for a snuggle and story.

One of the newest books that’s in our rotation is “Owl Always Love You”. It’s the story of Mommy & Daddy’s love for their little one, made even more personal by the fact that Bubbles’ name is printed on nearly every page. Sharing a sentiment that I want her to think about as she falls asleep, “Owl Always Love You” really is the perfect addition to our nightly routine.
