On the second to last day of school, Bubbles brought home some paperwork on local kids summer reading programs.  I knew about some of the national ones – we’ve participated in those for a few years – but had no idea they did them at the local level.

Summer break is something that nearly every child looks forward to.  There are dreams of lazy days, swimming, trips to the zoo, and just hanging out with their friends.  There isn’t much structure in the summer, and that’s half the joy.

With the loss of school-days structure, though, can come a desire to shed the structure of general home rules, too.

Pajamas – or “jammies” as we refer to them as around here – are a fairly common Christmas present, especially for the tot set.  A lot of families I know make it a Christmas eve tradition to give a new set of PJs and then cuddle up for a cocoa and Christmas story before setting out cookies, milk and carrots for Santa and his reindeer.
