It’s always an exciting day when a new Disney show or movie becomes available on DVD.  Today’s it an offering from the Disney Junior channel, which of course makes the youngest member of our household quite excited.  Especially since it features all of her classic Disney character friends.

We received a review copy of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie-rella on DVD, which released today.  Our family is no stranger to the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so I was sure we’d love this new tale, and I wasn’t disappointed.  Your little ones (and maybe some of you big ones) will love it.

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie-rella DVD + Popup Castle Play Set #Disney

In Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie-rella, Minnie’s friends have her hard at work taking care of chores in the Clubhouse.  They’re trying to keep her distracted while they get her a surprise present, but the chores tire poor Minnie out.  She falls asleep and dreams she is Minnie-rella. I received a DVD of Chuggington videos in order to facilitate my review. All thoughts and words are my own.

Bubbles has taken a real shine to motorized vehicles that talk.  Of course, my husband is thrilled, because this means lots of play time with trains, planes, cars, and all other manner of things that go.  Where trains are concerned, she especially likes Chuggington.

We’ve watched a few Chuggington videos, mostly on TV at night as we’re trying to settle down for bed.  So I of course had to say yes when we were offered a review copy of the new Chuggington DVD Brewster Leads the Way.  It’s definitely received a lot of play time as Bubbles has worked to learn the names of all her train buddies.

Chuggington Videos: Brewster Leads the Way DVD

The Chuggington series focuses on three main trains: Wilson, and his friends Brewster and Koko.  They participate in challenges that test courage, speed, and determination.  They’re supported by a number of other trains, and people too, that help them learn the skills they need to be the best trains possible. As much as I love to organize and clean, there have always been a few tasks that were on my short list of “would rather not”.  Some people hate dusting and laundry; I actually like those tasks.  But vacuuming, while not an inherently hard task, has never been my favorite.

To start with, I’m short.  Most vacuums I’ve owned have come up well past my waist, which makes them awkward to handle.  And then I have to drag the thing around, trying to not knock stuff over, stopping to haul things out of the way so I can get under every surface and behind every nook.

But now – now I seriously love vacuuming.  Like, I’ve vacuumed “just for fun” a couple of times, when it didn’t really even need it.  And it’s all because of the new Dyson DC59 available at Best Buy. Continue reading »

I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this Ooka Island Ambassadorship via Splash Media Engagement.  All words and opinions are my own.

I have loved to read for as long as I can remember.  Whether reading with my father at bedtime, or curled up in a nook in our playroom by myself, books were a favorite pastime.  We try to make sure that Bubbles has this same foundation, as well; we read with her multiple times per day, and she reads quietly on her own, too.

Like mother, like daughter, it seems.

Ooka Island Reading Program - Statistics on Reading #SmartStart

Unfortunately, not every child loves reading, and sometimes that has to do with the fact that they’re struggling.  In fact, today 68% of 5-year-olds will be behind in reading by fourth grade and 78% of those children will never catch up (National Assessment of Educational Progress, 2011).  This is a problem because literacy is important not only on an academic level, but economic and social levels, too. Universal CityWalk is really expanding this year.  It’s been quite a few years – when we last lived in Florida – since we’ve had a chance to visit, but it’s looking like we may need to plan a trip at some point.  Between the new introductions on the CityWalk, itself, and the addition to the Harry Potter section of the park, I can think of a few things I’d like to see!

Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food at Universal CityWalk

One of the newest openings has been the recent grand opening of Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food.  It officially opened on February 5th and became the second eatery to debut as part of the planned expansion to Universal’s entertainment complex.  With it’s colorful look, authentic cuisine and Mexican folk art, Antojitos is a journey through the cantinas and markets of Mexico City.
