Within the last few weeks we’ve had a few milestones take place here.  Bubbles turned six, and she also lost her first tooth – two very exciting happenings when you’re that age.

Celebrate milestones - like birthdays, a first lost tooth, spring, holidays, or more - with beautiful photos from Portrait Innovations

For as long as I can remember my family has documented milestones like these with a trip to the portrait studio.  We almost always went around our birthdays, and then during the holidays my Mom and my Aunt would join forces to corral all six of us cousins for a family portrait. Continue reading »

After our last visit to the Bonefish Grill, Bubbles asked frequently when we could make a return visit.  She had absolutely loved the homemade bread they brought to the table, as well as the mac & cheese she ordered as her kids entree.

The new new Lobster, Crab & Artichoke Dip, part of the Bonefish Grill Winter Menu

When I told her we had been invited back to try the Bonefish Grill winter menu she was definitely excited.  Hubs was happy, too, as we’ve always enjoyed the meals we’ve had there.  The service is great, the food is great, and the ambiance is really nice, too. Continue reading »

I am partnering with Dean’s Dairy during Breast Cancer Awareness Month to share their goal of generating resources for the fight against breast cancer here in Kentucky and Indiana.

Bubbles asked me the other day why she was seeing so much more pink around town.  Pink is one of her two favorite colors, so she definitely noticed the uptick in it’s usage.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, purchase Dean's Dairy's DairyPure Milk and they will make a donation for each gallon purchased

Since she’s only five I had a more vague conversation about Breast Cancer Awareness Month than I will when she’s a little older.  I told her that people are wearing and using pink to remind others about a disease that many people have. Continue reading »

Growing up in Maine we didn’t have any local zoos.  We really didn’t even have any non-local zoos.  I had visited one in Canada and one in Florida while on vacation, but that was it.  So when I moved to Kentucky I was excited to find that it was just a quick trip to the Louisville Zoo.

Riding the carousel horses at the Louisville Zoo

Since then we have been to the Louisville Zoo on a number of occasions.  We have a list of “must do” items, like a ride on the carousel which only costs $2 to ride (it’s $3 for unlimited rides all day).  We then fill in the rest of the time with whatever animals are out that day, any shows that might be taking place, or new displays that are being rotated through like the LEGO creations we recently saw. Quite a few months ago, we noticed a small bridge being built a bit off the side of the road not that far from our house.  It was the subject of much speculation between my husband and I until we found out that the bridge was part of the entrance to Broad Run Park.

Broad Run Park is the newest addition to The Parklands of Floyds Fork, a huge park system that started in 2011 and is scheduled to be finished this summer.  The master plan for The Parklands includes 100 miles of new hiking and biking trails, 19 miles of canoe trail, playgrounds, walking paths, and bark parks, plus areas for picnics, fishing holes, and more.
