As my sister-in-law Abby’s October due date gets closer, I get more excited.  I can’t wait to meet my new nephew Jayce!  There’s been plenty of planning with an upcoming shower and working on the nursery, but I’m also doing a little planning for Abby for “after”.

After Labor New Mom Gift Basket

Let’s be honest, labor is exhausting.  I know Sam and the rest of the family will give her plenty of support but when she gets home from the hospital she’s going to feel a lot different than the day she goes in.  I’m working on putting together a list of freezer meals that she can store away now, and I also put together this New Mom Gift Basket that I will have waiting for her when she gets home. The past few days have been a little hectic.  Between visitors, work, the rainy weather, groundskeeping, cooking, cleaning, and scheduling a family night out to the movies, my head has been spinning just a tiny bit.  I don’t know that we are any “busier” now than when Bubbles was a baby, but it’s a different kind of busy that takes a little more planning.

Make your days less hectic with an easy DIY Menu Board for family meal planning

The older Bubbles gets, the more hectic I know it will get, too.  We’re already looking into some tumbling classes or a soccer league for her and those practices have to be accounted for in our daily ebb and flow.  I can tell that to keep up, I’m going to need two things: a lot more energy and a better scheduling system. I like to think of myself as an organized person, and I love actually organizing things. But sometimes between work, motherhood and being a wife, my brain can get a little scattered. An idea will hit me and I’ll say “oh, I have to remember to look that up” – and then five minutes later, it’s left my mind for the next six months.

2 Easy DIY Bird Feeders Kids Can Make

Fortunately with a smartphone I lose less ideas than I did previously. I can jot myself a note, send a text to my husband with that hubby-do list request, or even look up the name to that song I can’t quite remember and stop driving myself nuts. But even more importantly, when inspiration hits, I can do something about it. Continue reading »

After what feels like weeks of nonstop rain, we were finally supposed to get a break with two days of sun over the weekend.  I woke up on Friday to find that we had been granted a bonus day, as the skies were clear and it was already warming up.  It was a little bit like being in school and finding out it was an early release day that you didn’t know about.

Easy DIY Sidewalk Paint Tutorial

Apparently I wasn’t the only one who felt that way, as when I walked outside nearly the entire neighborhood was out.  There were lawn mowers being gassed up, lawns raked, garages being cleaned.  We all had spring cleaning fever and no one was going to let the opportunity to get some work done pass us by before the rain started to fall again. Pinterest is, even after all these years, still probably one of my favorite websites.  There are tons of great DIY ideas, tantalizing recipes, and just plain pretty stuff.  There are enough projects there to keep me busy for probably the rest of my life.

Easy Kids DIY Hair Accessory Organizer for hair bows, headbands and hair clips. No tools and no glue gun needed! Done in under 15 minutes.

While I usually have the intent of making each recipe or completing each project that I pin, I do keep one board of pins that are for more immediate inspiration.  Things I know, for sure, that I want to try – whenever I get some elusive “free time”.  This kids DIY hair accessory organizer is one of those things.
