This post on the Walgreens Saturdate is sponsored by Global Influence.  All words and opinions are my own.

Want some free hair care tips from experts?  I know I do!  So next weekend, on November 9th, I’ll be heading over for a TRESemmé Walgreens Saturdate.  Trained Walgreens Beauty Advisors will be on hand for product trials and sample giveaways to help you get salon-quality products at an affordable price.

TRESemmé Walgreens Saturdate on November 9, 2013

I’ve always had really good luck with TRESemmé products.  I’ve been using their dry shampoo from the Fresh Start line.  It’s a great way to give yourself a little freshen-up if you don’t have time to wash your hair. Continue reading »

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Dove.  I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating in this post on underarm irritation.

Deodorant is one of those things that it takes awhile to find the perfect one, much like finding the perfect shade of lipstick or foundation.  You just have to keep trying them until you stumble across the right one for your body chemistry and activity needs.  I know that between junior high and high school, I probably tried every brand, formulation, and scent that was on the market.

And then I found Dove, and my days of searching were over.  Seriously, I’ve been using Dove deodorant exclusively for at least a decade.  For me, I haven’t found another deodorant that goes on as smoothly, keeps me dry and does as much to help nourish my skin as Dove does.

I received a FabFitFun subscription box in order to facilitate my review.  No other compensation was received; all words and opinions are my own.

A week or two ago I shared with you my love of subscription boxes.  I might go so far as to say that subscription boxes are one of my favorite retail introductions of this decade.  Technically, I guess they’re not an entirely new concept.  Lots of companies have always sold mystery boxes, but this second-generation concept helps put a much finer point on what you’re going to receive.  Snacks, kids crafts, gluten-free foods, jewelry, beauty – they’re all available.

And it’s a beauty and health box that I wanted to introduce you to today.  The FabFitFun box is curated by Giuliana Rancic.  If you’re not familiar with Giuliana, she’s a co-host of E! News and Fashion Police, as well as Miss USA and Miss Universe contests.  She and her husband Bill also star in the reality show “Giuliana and Bill”. Continue reading »

Pond's Luminous Skin Care Line

When I shop at a drug store there are two things I invariably purchase: nail polish and skin care items.  I love to experiment with both new shades of polish as well as new formulations of skin lotions, face scrubs, exfoliators, and more.  It’s my way of keeping on trend and current without breaking the bank.

As a teenager and 20-something I mostly focused on basic cleaning and keeping acne-free.  Now that I’m in my mid-30s, though, my needs are different.  I look for products that keep my skin bright, moisturized, and when possible contain SPF.  The new POND’S Luminous line meets all my needs and more.

The Luminous line consists of four products:

  1. POND’S Luminous Moisture Day Lotion with SPF 15
  2. POND’S Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser
  3. POND’S Luminous Clean Daily Exfoliating Cleanser
  4. POND’S Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes

The cleansers each contain soft white Kaolin clay that acts like a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling impurities.  Between the Kaolin clay, the texture of the cloths, and the microbeads in the daily exfoliating cleanser, your face not only gets a great cleaning but also feels incredibly smooth after each wash.  All the products are very gentle on your skin, however; as someone with sensitive skin that’s important to me and I can attest that the products didn’t irritate at all (they’re all hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and dermatologist tested). A few years ago, I developed allergies.  Oh, joy, right?  It was so confusing.  After all, I grew up in Maine, playing outside all the time, and we had a dog from the day I was born all the way through my college years.  Never so much as a sniffle or itchy eye.

But when they hit – they hit hard.  Seasonal allergies, with the occasional pet dander allergy thrown in for good measure.  I was a miserable mess of itchy eyes, congestion, the whole package.  As a wife and mom, I can’t simply say “I’m taking a sick day”, though, so what’s a girl to do?  There are a lot of options out there, but I had heard good things about Allegra, so I thought I would head to CVS and check it out.
