Yesterday we celebrated Thanksgiving.  I know that’s pretty late, considering the actual date for Thanksgiving was a couple of weeks ago.  But it ended up being the date that let the most people attend, and made it possible for Ashley and her boyfriend to come, as well as my parents from Maine who are here visiting for a few days.

Sausage Cornbread Stuffing is a tasty side dish for holiday parties

I love when my parents are able to be here for holidays as they get a chance to see how traditions differ not only from family to family but from region to region.  For example, here in Kentucky all my Thanksgivings have involved corn pudding and chicken & dumplins, something you wouldn’t expect to see on a holiday spread in Maine. I’m working on a sausage cornbread stuffing recipe that I’ll be sharing with you tomorrow, and the recipe calls for four cups of coarsely crumbled cornbread.  I’ve posted my recipe for skillet cornbread before but I also have a basic cornbread recipe that I learned to make after meeting my husband.

This easy cornbread recipe is a family-favorite!

This is the cornbread recipe I’m using as the base for my sausage cornbread stuffing.  Cornbread that falls apart as soon as you bite into it isn’t really my kind of cornbread.  This recipe makes moist, light cornbread with just a touch of sweetness. Continue reading »

While my daily ‘uniform’ these days mostly consists of jeans and a t-shirt, I do still love fashion.  When I worked in a corporate office, I loved picking out suits and cute shoes, and finding the perfect accessories.

Whether you’re buying for a true fashionista or “fashionista lite” like myself, I’m sure there’s a gift below that they would love to have!  Some of the products below were provided and the post may include affiliate links.

Last Minute Fashionista Gifts: Duri Cosmetics Revel in Luxury Nail Polish Collection

Nail polish is one of my favorite accessories.  It’s the most inexpensive way I know to change up my look and stay on trend each season.  The Revel in Luxury collection from Duri Cosmetics has pretty new shades for winter.  Some of my favorites include Posh, Oh My Stars, and Paint the Town. This post is a partnership with Curious World and the One2One Network. All thoughts and experiences are my own.

Lately Bubbles has been soaking up books like a sponge and surprising us every day at just how much she wants to learn – and how much she’s actually retaining.  The other day she asked for a piece of paper and her crayons.  Ten minutes later she returns with a letter she wrote for Ashley and had actually written out “Sissy” at the top and her own name at the bottom.

Bubbles loves playing Curious World on my iPhone

I want to keep the momentum going for her while she’s still interested so I’ve been on the lookout for new apps or services that can provide more educational opportunities for her.  Recently we found the Curious World app that has hundreds of educational books, games, and videos for kids age 3-7. This shop and my DIY Baby’s First Christmas Ornament project have been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. Adorableness is my nephew’s; opinions are my own. #BIGDeal #CollectiveBias

Baby’s First Christmas is always an exciting milestone.  Bubbles was ten months old for her first Christmas and treated us to the gift of her first steps on Christmas Day.  So I know that my brother and Abby must both be really looking forward to celebrating their first Christmas as parents.

Easy DIY Baby's First Christmas ornament + Christmas Stocking Ideas for Baby

We aren’t going to make it to Maine this year for Christmas (again. sadly) but I still wanted to do something a little special for Jayce.  A few years ago I made Sam & Abby a DIY Our First Christmas ornament using their wedding invitation.  I thought it might be fun to continue the ornament tradition and I decided to DIY a Baby’s First Christmas Ornament.
