Thank you to The Beatrix Girls for sending Lark to live with us. All words and opinions are my own.

Earlier this week I mentioned that I had the opportunity to attend Sweet Suite while in Chicago.  There were tons of great toy companies, some well-known that have been around for years and others that are just being introduced for the first time.  One of the new companies – a company that I expect you’ll be hearing a lot of in the next few months – was the PopStar Club.

The Beatrix Girls Dolls - Lark & Brayden

PopStar Club is the maker of a new line of collectible 12″ pop star dolls called The Beatrix Girls.  The girls – Lark, Ainsley, Brayden, and Chantal – are all members of the same band.  What sets them apart from other similarly-themed dolls is that these gals create actual music that your kids can download.  Each band member also has a full background story.  You can visit the Beatrix Girls website and find out their favorite foods, colors, where they’re each from, and more. The reviewer has been compensated for the Frends Taylor Headphones review in the form of a Best Buy Gift Card and/or received the product/service at a reduced price or for free. All opinions and words are my own.

When you’re putting together your outfit for the day, you probably think about what accessories you’ll add, too.  Shoes, a bag, earrings, necklace, maybe even a belt.  You might choose what color nail polish or eye shadow to put on.  Some people may even take the accessorizing as far as matching up an umbrella, coat, or hat.  And lots of people have multiple cases for their phones to switch it up based on their mood or clothes.

One accessory you might not think about, however, is your headphones.  Why should you go for boring and plain when you put so much thought into the rest of your style?  Fortunately, now there is a pair of trendy headphones from Frends that are just as rockin’ as you are.

I participated in this campaign for One2One Network.  I received a free copy of the CD to facilitate my review.  By posting, I am eligible for incentives. All words and opinions are my own.

One of my favorite country groups from when I was in high school was the Dixie Chicks.  So when I heard that two of three Dixie Chicks members – sisters Emily Robinson and Martie Maguire – had just released their second album as members of Court Yard Hounds, I knew I wanted to give it a listen.  I had loved the addition of their violin and banjo playing and was hoping to hear more in this separate venture.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Soundfreaq. I received a Soundfreaq Sound Platform 2 to facilitate my review.

Music has always been a huge part of my life.  Growing up I took years of piano lessons (which I still love to play when I get the chance) and sang in both my high school and college chorus groups.  When I wasn’t playing or singing, I was listening.  And to this day hearing a certain song will trigger memories of fun events with friends and family.

It wasn’t as easy to listen to music when I was a kid (I sound like an old granny talking about walking to school, in the snow, uphill both ways).  Cassette tapes weren’t exactly convenient or high-tech.  It’s funny, as the kids queue up music on their phones, I tease them now about how you actually had to listen to the whole tape or use the fast forward button just to find the one song on the album you actually liked.

Technology has come a long way, hasn’t it?

Now that I’m married with a family, I’m glad that they love music, too.  We listen to the radio in the car, as well as to downloaded and streaming music and shows at home or on the go through our phones and laptops.  It’s great to have so many choices but much of what we have to choose from makes listening a solo activity.

Thank you to One2One Network for providing a copy of Michael Buble To Be Loved in order to review.

Michael Bublé has been one of my favorite artists since the first time I heard his voice.  A soulful crooner, when he sings I’m instantly transported to the days of the Rat Pack.  His style has sometimes been related to the Big Band era of the 20s and I’d definitely agree that many of his songs do have that jazzy, swing feel.

Those eyes!!

Up until now, my favorite album was his Christmas album.  His voice + Christmas songs + sitting in front of a fire place = the best way to spend Christmas Eve.  But now he has released “To Be Loved”, his sixth album, and I feel like I might have a new favorite.  This collection is slightly different than his others because in addition to some great covers, “To Be Loved” includes four songs that Michael wrote himself.
