Disney’s Saving Mr. Banks is in theaters right now, and DreamWorks Pictures’ Need for Speed releases in the spring.  Here is a look at both of them, plus a free Saving Mr. Banks iBook for you to download!

Saving Mr. Banks

Tom Hanks as Walt Disney in Saving Mr Banks

Saving Mr. Banks is one movie I have been seriously counting the days for since I originally learned of it’s creation.  Now that Ashley is home from college she has offered to babysit for us so hubby and I can go after Christmas.  I love the above photo for a lot of reasons, one of which is that I recently had the chance to stand in front of that same Mickey face at Disneyland when visiting the Treasures of Asgard exhibit. My family was invited to a screening in order for me to write my Disney Frozen review.  All thoughts and opinions are my own.

From the moment I saw the first previews, I knew that Disney’s Frozen was going to be a big hit.  And after having had the opportunity to see it with my family a couple of weeks ago, I’m calling that it will soon become a classic.  The animation, the songs, the story – it all adds up to amazing.

This was the second movie we had taken Bubbles to see at the theater but this was the first one she was able to stay and watch until the end.  Even after sitting in the theater for about thirty minutes prior to the movie starting, she happily sat in her seat for the whole thing, turning away from the screen only occasionally to share a laugh with me.  I don’t know how I had forgotten that it was going to be in 3D, but she opted not to wear her glasses and still enjoyed it.

Disney Frozen Review

At it’s center, Disney’s Frozen is about the relationship between sisters.  Princesses and sisters Anna and Elsa have always been so close, playing and having fun in their family’s castle.  Elsa has a special gift, the ability to create things from snow and ice.  Often the sisters would sneak downstairs while their parents slept and skate, slid, and play with the snowman named Olaf that Elsa brought to life for them. I received a Play-Doh Disney Princess Design-a-Dress Boutique set in order to facilitate my review.  No other compensation was received and all thoughts and words are my own.

We have been having a lot of fun with Play-Doh lately.  She has especially loved taking her toy dogs and dinosaurs and having them walk through and make tracks.  It was a creative way to play, but I knew they made a variety of Play-Doh kits that would give her even more options.

Play-Doh Disney Princess Design-a-Dress Boutique Set

At first I was just looking for something that cut simple shapes or maybe had a little rolling pin and stamps.  But then I came across the Play-Doh Disney Princess Design-a-Dress Boutique set.  Bubbles has been talking recently about pretty dresses and shoes and jewelry, so I thought this would be right up her alley. I received a copy of The Little Mermaid 2 and Ariel’s Beginning 2-Movie Collection in order to facilitate my review. No additional compensation was received and all thoughts and words are my own.

The Little Mermaid has always been one of my favorite Disney movies.  The songs, the colors, the under the sea adventure, the romance – it’s the whole package.  I did always wonder, though, about the origins of the kingdom of Atlantica and what Ariel and all her siblings were like when they were little.

I also wondered about what happened with Ariel and Eric after they were married.  Was it truly a happily ever after story?  Did Ariel regret giving up her fins and family for a set of legs and love?

The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning and The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea 2-Movie Collection

To answer those questions, a few years ago Disney released both Ariel’s Beginning and The Little Mermaid 2.  I didn’t have the chance at the time to pick up either copy but now that both are available in one collection, I knew it was time to add them to my library.  Especially because Bubbles enjoys The Little Mermaid, also, and these would be something we could watch together. I received a copy of Disney’s Planes in order to facilitate my review.  All words and opinions are my own.

A couple of days before I left for California, we received a copy of the Disney’s Planes Blu-ray Combo Pack in the mail.  Big fans of the Cars movies, we had been excitedly awaiting the home release of Planes.  When Bubbles saw the cover she immediately asked if we could put it in and watch it.

Which, of course, we did.  Bubbles crawled up on the couch and sat there without squirming for the entire movie.  I think that tells you right off the bat that it’s an amazing movie; anything that can capture the attention of a toddler has to be good.

My Planes Review: Dusty from Disney's Planes #DisneyPlanesBloggers

Disney’s Planes centers on a cute little orange and white cropdusting plane named Dusty (voiced by Dane Cook).  Dusty doesn’t want to be a cropduster, though; he wants to be a racer.  Specifically, he would like to participate in the Wings Across the World Race.  The only problem?  He’s terrified of heights.
