The “See ‘Chimpanzee’, Save Chimpanzees” program has been extended! From now until May 3rd when you see Disneynature’s “Chimpanzee” in theaters, the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund will make a donation to the Jane Goodall Institute to help protect chimpanzees today and in the future. “Chimpanzee” was so popular on it’s opening weekend – earning $10.6 million – that Disney decided to extend the donation program a week past it’s original April 26th closing date. I know it’s quite advanced notice, but any new Disney movie release notice is always exciting news for me!
The Walt Disney Studios has announced a U.S. release date of March 14, 2014, for Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie in the title role as Disney’s ultimate villain. The live-action film explores the origins of the evil fairy Maleficent and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney’s animated classic Sleeping Beauty. Leading a team of visionary filmmakers known for creating and transporting audiences to new and exciting worlds, Academy Award®-winning production designer Robert Stromberg (Avatar, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Oz The Great and Powerful) will direct with a script by Linda Woolverton (Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Alice in Wonderland). Maleficent is produced by Joe Roth (Disney’s Alice in Wonderland and Oz The Great and Powerful).
I think Angelina Jolie is a really good choice to play Maleficent – she has that dark, brooding vibe and I can completely see her as a villain. What do you think? Was Angelina the best choice, or would you have chosen someone else?
Disneynature’s Chimpanzee opens in theaters today. There’s a cute new clip of Oscar called “Savor the Flavor”. It doesn’t sound too savory to me, but hey. I’m sure it’s great if you’re a chimp!

DisneyNature’s Chimpanzee movie opens in theaters tomorrow and I’m so excited! This movie looks to be one that my whole family will love. That little Oscar is just too cute! I mean, seriously, just look at this face.
