Thank you to At Home stores for partnering with me to share dorm room storage ideas.

Bubbles starts kindergarten in less than a couple of weeks.  Getting her ready for school has had me thinking back to all my first days of school, from kindergarten to high school and even to college.

Dorm Room Storage Ideas - Increase your living space by maximizing the use of your closet and a few wheeled carts

We have a few years before we need to think about college planning again, but I have friends who are sending their kids for the first time.  I wanted to share some of the easy dorm room storage ideas that were most beneficial to me as a college student.  Some of them are so obvious, you may not have even thought of them! I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Dove. I received product samples to facilitate my review and create my care package ideas list, as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.

It’s hard to believe, but finals week at colleges around the country isn’t that far away.  Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away, and shortly after students will be pulling all-nighters, cramming as much knowledge into their heads as they can.  Though it’s been a few (okay, a lot) of years since I was in the same situation, I can remember how stressful both the week before and the week of finals could be.

Picture this: it’s the middle of August in Florida.  The mercury is bubbling as temperatures climb past the 105°F mark.  My parents, brothers, and I are about to move me into the dorms for my freshman year of college.  The building, being a national historic landmark located in the oldest city in America, has no air conditioning (yes, you read that right – I was about to live in a building, in Florida, with no A.C.).  My dorm room is on the first floor, which is technically the second floor.

We drove down as a family from Maine with a car full of my stuff.  But five people doesn’t leave much room for “stuff” so I had also shipped a number of boxes that were waiting for us.  Waiting for us to carry down a street, up two long flights of stairs, and down to the far end of a long hall.  In 105°F heat (in case you missed that part).  While trying to keep track of my two very active young brothers.
